    Tennessee 2010 Game Summaries

    Week 13

The cupboard is definitely not bare in Knoxville, even thought I inherited a team that was 3-6. Sophomore stud RB Bryce Brown is the real deal. Brown sliced and diced the Kentucky defense for 5 TD's and only played 3 quarters.

Freshman QB Hopkins is a Vince Young clone and if teams do not put a spy on him then he will take off when he wants to. Hopkins looks to be an SEC all conference performer if he continues to grow in the passing game and he will be a integral aspect of the Vols performance in 2011.

At WR we are very deep and fast. Senior wide out Gerald Jones leads the cast and is having a strong season. The shining star moving forward will be Zach Rogers, who has great speed and elusiveness in the open field. Rogers is a freshman so him and Hopkins will be hooking up for at least 2 more seasons.

Kentucky couldn't mount any kind of rally and this ball game was over in the 3rd quarter. It was a must win for the Vols as we had quite a few recruits at the game - and this was rivalry game for us and the win kept us alive to reach bowl eligibility.

2011 could be a special year if our defense can match the potential of the offense and Knoxville will be rocking all next year if they do.

    Week 14

Tennessee Vols 69 Akron Zips 8

The Vols closed out there season in a laugher. Akron was god awful and we had to kneel on the ball 5 times in the 4th quarter inside Akron's 5 yard line to avoid going over 70 points. We could have easily have dropped 125 points on them and it was due mostly to Akron's ineptitude on offense.

Freshman QB Jeff Hopkins was wild throwing as he completed just 6 for 15, but had 2 td's. The 2 scores were to TE Brandon Warren who literally was uncovered on both of his TD's. Warren ended the day with just 2 catches for 107 yards.

With Hopkins struggling early, we went to the ground game as 6 different players got carries. The Vols were led by Super Soph Bryce Brown who had 205 yards on 22 carries. Brown is poised to lead the Vols to magical places next season if he keeps this up.

On defense, stud freshman DT Arthur Jeffery was all over Akron's QB all game. Jeffery had 3 sacks and numerous tackles in the backfield as the Zips center was over matched in every way.

The Vols finished 6-6, 3-0 after the coaching change and are now bowl eligible. Time will tell, if the Vols can get into a bowl which would be a huge momentum maker going into 2011.
