Houston must like the hotel life as today they would win their 2nd consecutive game on the road ad against a division foe, bringing their road record to 4-3 on the season and much better then their dismal 2-5 home record. With the Texans only playing for pride as they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention last week when both the Jets and Dolphins won their respective games, giving them a win total of 9, which Houston cannot match going into this game at 5-8. The goal now for this team is to finish up the season strong and reach .500 The had a tough challenge today taking on the 12-1 Colts in their own house. The first points were put up on the board in the 1st quarter when Matt Schaub would lead his team down the field and hit TE Owen Daniels for a TD in the red zone. The Colts would get the ball next and drive to midfield and from there be stopped on 3rd down. The ensuing punt would be kicked out of bounds and spotted at the 2 yard line. From there, the Texans would put together a very nice 98 yard scoring drive culminating in a short Arian Foster TD run. The Colts would strike back quickly as Andrew Luck would drive his team down and finish the drive off with a TD pass to Reggie Wayne, cutting the deficit to 7. The Colts would then get another quick score on a sack/strip/fumble return for a TD on the Texans very first play of the next drive, tying the game up at 14. Houston would manage to get a quick field goal in before the half, heading into the locker room with a 17-14 lead. The second half would start out mostly slowly, as both teams would have trouble moving the ball early and swapped punts back and forth. That would be until Colts HB Bernard Pierce would break free for an 80 yard TD run to take the 21-17 lead. After a nice kick return to near midfield, Houston would put together a short drive to just inside the red zone in the bottom half of the 4th quarter. After being stopped on a 3rd down play, and being down by 4, the Texans decided to settle for the easy field goal to put themselves down by 1 point and put the teams hopes on the backs of the defense to get the ball back with just over 2 minutes left in the game. The defense would stand tall and force a 3 and out and get the ball back to the offense just inside the 2 minute warning. On a big 3rd down play, Schaub would hit Keshawn Martin (who also had the big receiving play the week prior) who would break away from defenders for a sure TD, but with too much time remaining decided to give himself up for the tackle inside the 10 yard line. From there, the Texans would run the ball 3 times, forcing Indianapolis to use their timeouts and kick the go ahead field goal with just 40 seconds remaining. The Colts would have a last chance to get into field goal range, but with no timeouts left, would have to go deep. On 3rd down, Lucks deep ball would be picked off by LB Brian Cushing, sealing the 23-21 win for the Texnas. The Texans at 6-8 will play host to the Denver Broncos next week, before closing out the season on the road in Tennessee against division rival Titans.
