Arkansas Escapes Rivalry Game With A Win

Arkansas clashed with Texas A&M for the first time since the days of the old Southwest Conference and you could certainly tell there was no love loss over the years as they picked up right where they left off.

Arkansas would control the scoreboard for most of the game until the fourth quarter when Texas A&M would convert two key Mallett interceptions into 14 points. The first of the interceptions would shut down an Arkansas scoring opportunity and swing the scoreboard 14 points as the A&M db would take the ball 100 yards despite being chased the entire way by the Arkansas' Smith.

After the ensuing kickoff Mallett's next pass was picked off on an Immaculate Reception

A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson would take over and lead A&M into the endzone to take a 6 point lead. However it would be the kicking game that would fail A&M for a second time with a missed extra point and open the window for Arkansas to march down the field on the arm of Mallett and hands of freshman sensation Jarius Wright and take the lead.

The Arkansas defense would give up one more big pass play that ultimately left the A&M kicker just outside of his range as his attempt to win the game with 20 seconds left fell 5 yards short.

Arkansas obviously has to look deep inside as they seem to be missing the heart necessary to make a run in the SEC after collapsing in the fourth versus Georgia and following that up by getting their doors blown off by Julius Jones and the Tide last week and a weak showing versus A&M in the fourth of this one.
