#3 Texas (1-0) @ #11 Alabama (0-1)
UT: 44 Bama:7
In the game of the week championship minded #3 UT(1-0) traveled to #11 Alabama(0-1) and comes out with a 44-7 win. Texas ran the ball effectively with 214 Yards on 50 attempts and two touchdown. When forced to pass, UT did this effectively as well with a 10 of 12 passing day for 179 yards and two touchdowns.
The key to the game was Alabama's 5 turnovers. Turnovers compiled with UT's rushing attack lead to a dominating 28:33 to 5:50 T.O.P.
In week three the Raiders of Texas Tech(2-0) hosted their hated rival, University of Texas(2-0).
After 1 the score was tied 0-0, but the 2nd quarter saw 27 points put up, 17 by UT! Texas struggled to get their ground game going early and switched to the pass to open things up. This lead to 14 points with a 18 yard pass from McCoy to Williams at the 6:09 mark, and again a 28 yard pass from McCoy to M.Williams at the :49 Mark. Texas Tech would answer quickly with a 42 yard pass, Britton to Potts. With :10 left on the Clock, Coach Brown decides he's got a heisman caliber QB, lets air it out! McCoy throws a DEEEEP bomb to Williams and he brings it down to the 17 with 2 seconds left on the clock. Coach then calls a TO and gets 3 before half!
After that it was all UT with 21 points in the 2nd half, TTech's only coming off a 99 yard kickoff return.
Final Score was 38-17
Passing: C.McCoy 18 of 28 for 324 and 2 TDs and 0 INT
Rushing: C.Johnson 34 ATT, 157 Yards and 2 TDS
Receiving: M.Williams 5 REC, 142 YARDS, and 2 TDS
OU (#2) v UT (#1)
This game got out of hand quickly with a 28-0 score at the end of the first half. Both the running game and was clicking for the long horns.
UT: Passing: 14ATT-24COMP-3TD-253YARDS through the air
C.McCoy had a solid day with a 198.9 Rating, but, had two interceptions along with his 3 Passing Tds.
After the game coach Brown was asked whether or not his team solidifies their #1 ranking, he responded with "THEY WERE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE"
OSU Gave me all i could handle. We traded back and forth the whole game. I won by stopping their TIE Attempt late by going for two. Crazy game.
UT comes out on top in a epic battle. McCoy really stunk up the place with 3 INTs on passes to open WRs, sailing the ball WAYYY over the heads of his WRs. UT took out UGA's QB forcing him to throw more, which lead to 3 INTs by the Georgia QB, 2 of which went back for touchdowns.
UT managed to shut down UGA rushing attack as well, UGA went 34 ATT for 34 Yards. Georgia's defense was tough as well, i was not able to run the ball much and resorted to passing often, leading to 3 picks.
Overall, great game.
Well UT had their first game with new coaching staff. And it was no time to miss a beat as the hosted #19 Okie State. UT really dominated from whistle to whistle. OSU was able to have a moderate success passing the ball but absolutely no running game severely hampered their overall offensive effort. UT's offense was clicking led by backup QB Sherrod Harris and his four passing TDs. UT used 3 RB's in this game not necessarily because they had to or wanted to but their 1 and 2 RB's were hampered with injuries but that barely even cost their offense a yard. They had absolutely no problem running the ball. Good win for UT as they improve to 8-1 with a 42-16 victory.
Will try to get some videos uploaded later.
Texas wins their ninth straight game with a 45-7 victory over Kansas St. Sherod Harris was the star of the game with over 200 yards passing and over 100 yards rushing. Kansas St. struggled all day to move the ball on the UT D with the exception of their one scoring drive. Texas improves to 9-1.
Texas vs Texas A&M
This was a hard fought game by two bitter rivals. The game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Texas was able to pull away in the fourth when TAMU got out of their game plan when they tried to catch up. First off we actually played three halves because we lost the connection at halftime the first time around. Texas just stayed with their mostly conservative running offense for most of the game. Combined with good D they were able to beat down TAMU until the fourth then pulled away. QB Sherrod Harris was 13-20 for 167 yards and 2 TD's, RB Cody Johnson had 19 carries for 91 yards with 1 TD. But the player of the game was safety Blake Gideon. He led all tacklers with 9 and added 3 INT's. Those picks were HUGE in this game. Final score: UT-42 TAMU-17. Texas improves to 10-1 and prepares for their showdown with #1 UGA next week in Athens which will have national title implications.
Texas at UGA
This was a nice opportunity for The Longhorns to the home field of a national contender from the SEC and prove their worth. As has tended to be their style, The Longhorns started out slow and methodical to break down the opposition's defense. It was a close game at the end of the 1st with UT up 7-3. The Texas opened up their offense a little more in the middle quarters by using an effective running game to loosen up the D for the pass. Starting QB Sherrod Harris, who is technically the second QB but the starter is out for the season, went out for the game and Redshirt Freshman Garret Gilbert had to come in a lead the team. And did he ever come to play. Gilbert finished 14-14 for 127 yards and 3 TD's. RB Cody Johnson ran the ball 24 times for 140 yards and a TD. Altogether the Texas offense outgained UGA's 451-286. Final score: UT-42 UGA-17.
Texas is now preparing for their big showdown in the conference championship against a very good Nebraska team.
