    TEXAS 52 RICE 0

Week 1 the Longhorns had to hit the road to play Rice. The Longhorns started out slow and sloppy battling Rice through a scoreless 1st qtr and taking a mere 17-0 lead over Rice to the lockerroom at the half.

The second half however was all Texas as Rice ran out of gas trying to matchup with the Horns. Starting Texas RB T Newton left the game early with a bruised shoulder and will miss 3 weeks. His backup Whittaker however took advantage of the time and abused the Rice defense amassing 288yds 5tds on 20 carries also adding 1 reception for a 69 yd TD.

Longhorn QBs Gilbert and Harris each tossed 1 TD pass in the lopsided victory.

    TEXAS 42 MIAMI 38

Texas held on to beat the #8 ranked Hurricanes on a wet field in Austin 42-38. The conditions didn't slow down either team one bit as both offenses made big play after big play. This game went back and forth with each team scoring every qtr and with each team even getting a KR for a TD. My 3rd down defense was horrible but we did manage to come away with 3 interceptions which helped us escape with a hard fought W.

Texas Junior WR Malcolm Williams was POG for the Horns as he tallied 4 receptions for 144yds 1TD, rushed for another TD and also had a KR for a TD.

The Hurricanes have a dangerous offense and a fast defense. Tough team to handle.

Now maybe I can sign some crappy recruits lol.

    TEXAS 45 TTU 7

Texas remains undefeated and moves to 3-0 after knocking off in state rival TTU 45-7 in lubbock. Jr. RB F Whittaker continued his impressive season for the Horns as he carried 31 times for 150yds and 3tds.

Just before kickoff the Horns also announced their first recruit signing...

    #5 ranked SS Mark Porter a 6'2 204 JUCO transfer :4stars: prospect

    TEXAS 42 PITTSBURGH 10

The Longhorns moved to 6-0 after defeating the #15 ranked Pittsburgh Panthers on the road this week. The Panthers started off hot completing their opening drive with a TD and going up on the visiting Longhorns 7-0. That lead didn't last long however as Texas scored on their first drive as well and then continued to control the game ending with a lopsided 42-10 victory.

Texas QB Gilbert went 13 of 25 for 259yds and 2tds.

Texas despite their impressive starts continues to struggle on the recruiting trail losing three more key prospects to other schools. "I think some of these kids are a little scared of some good old competition"...says HC Rouse in response to some highly touted recruits signing elsewhere. Despite some being "promised" every opportunity to play early they have still signed elsewhere. Longhorns hope that trend changes soon and the Texas recruiting class gets a boost in coming weeks.

    Texas 43 Baylor 36

The Horns were pushed to end this week against rival Baylor in a game that went back and forth with many lead changes. Texas lone bright spot was RB Whittaker who rushed 22 times for 235yds 3tds helping the Horns get past a pesky Baylor team.

Texas learned after the game of two new recruits who will be playing for the Horns next season....

    #5 CB 4* Adrian Cade 6'0 170

    #64 OLB 3* Cortez Jenkins 6'3 202
