Season One commits are highlighted by the :5stars: CB, Brad Mills out of California. Mills is 6'2" and 199 lbs with good coverage skills. Some people think he may play a role in his Freshman year in the Nickel CB spot but only time will tell if he can beat some already good CB's that are on the roster at the moment. Mills was given B+ in Speed, B in Man Coverage, and B- in Zone Coverage.

Another big time guy from this years Recruiting Class is the 5'10", 160 lbs Power RB from Washington, Byron Thompson. Even though he is considered a power back he was given a B rating in speed during the recruiting process. He is known for breaking tackles after first contact and most importantly, ball security. The feeling around campus is that most likely he will be red shirted due to the talent already at the running back position but the coaches feel as if this would be a good time for him to put on some weight and get stronger.

    Underclassmen/Players Leaving

    Underclassman Leaving:
    Curtis Brown CB/JR

    Transfers Out:
2 players are leaving the Longhorns for other programs. Texas decided to allow them to leave without making an attempt to get them to stay. Both players were backups in their positions, RB and DE. The fact that the Longhorns have two Freshman recruits coming in at those same positions probably made the decision a lot easier.

Texas will now be able to recruit 3 :4stars: players to compensate the loss of those players.

No new signings as of week 2...Texas is in the process of "sweet" talking some key recruits trying to fill their last roster needs, QB and MLB. Hopefully we can get these guys to put some ink down in week 3.

Texas gets Reginald Bell the 6'2", 180 pound, :4stars:, #25 CB from Florida to commit. Bell ran a 4.46 40 yard dash and has B+ coverage skills. Bell is the second CB that Texas has landed in this years Freshman Class. It's evident that even with the #1 ranked rush Defense the Longhorns are focused on improving their Secondary for the future. Bell probably will not start but will be competing for the Nickel or Dime Back spot.

Texas landed 2 :4stars: players this week at the TE and WR position. The TE, Keith Mcfarland has great speed and size at the TE position. The Coaches feel that he will be able to see some of the field early his Freshman year giving the Longhorns two very good TE's. This should open up the offense that much more and help the running game. The WR they signed will more than likely not see the field his Freshman year but rather sit back and grow in the Offense and be ready when his time comes. D. Walker is a big bodied receiver with good hands and good speed.

The Longhorns are still waiting on 3 more recruits to commit...
