Texas Tech starts the season off on a high note as the Red Raiders dismantle the #11 team in the country. Texas Tech's QB Kellen Harris was playing at an all-word level, a trend Coach Max hopes will continue for the rest of the season. Senior WR Eric Ward strained his back and will be out 2 weeks. He should be back for the big game against Coach Max's former C-USA foe Southern Miss. True Freshman Cheech Charles and Senior Aaron Fisher must step-up in order for Tech to continue to get offensive production.

    Houston @ #19 TTU
    (W 38-14)

The Red Raiders continue their hot start to 2013, this time beating a very talented Houston squad. There was no love lost between Coach Max and the Cougars, as his time spent at Rice and the rivalries developed there still have an effect on him. It was pouring rain during this contest in Lubbock, but that would not stop the Raiders from running their pass-happy offense. Kellen Harris played well throwing 5TDs, but he also threw 3 INTs. "We're going to have to 'blame it on the rain'..." Coach Max said in an interview on Sunday. The Red Raiders were able to maintain a high level of play even without their best WR, which bodes well for the rest of their season. Now with a BYE week to prepare for SoMiss, the Raiders will hit the practice field and should have Eric Ward back at 100% for this one.
