TFC: getting everyone together

i work 12 hours on weekends so i'm mainly a weekday player. i thought activity was actually improving, i dont how many times i had to move to wing back last week because we had so many players.

 

An ex professional footballer you certainly are not mate lol. I am sorry moon but I am now tired of the we need to do this n need to do that talks and the goalkeeper thing did piss me off, only cos you just didn't listen. The big I am attitude doesn't wash with me. I understand you Cole, I was looking at the squad stats ie how many players we now have on the squad and games played by them etc etc...

 

For sure...we have had some pretty good turnout the past week. However, it's not the norm. Generally the norm has been four players at most. I have yet to play a full club game (which would be awesome). I would like to see us get some more work in as a club and keep getting better. I would like us to stick with whatever formation we decide on and stick with it. Seems like we are sticking with that five back formation we have been running lately. I would also like someone (whoever has the best knowledge of the game) to talk a little bit about the formation we chose so we can each tailor our players around that formation. For instance...I think it was a one forward formation, does that mean we need a forward who is a target forward with power? What should our tactics be? Should we play through the CAM and to the wings with crosses into the box? Should we be playing the middle of the field with this formation with the wings making runs inside the box, or should we stay wide? (I am just saying as a base, I realize we need to read the defenses to really talk about that). That way we can each tailor our guys attribute to the position you normally play in that formation and we can play to that formation's strengths.

I also think we need more communication in game. I have a lot of fun with you all on, we talk about lots of stuff and it's all good, but I think some of the time we need to get a bit more tactical. If you have ideas speak up about them. If you think we should calm down, switch field, chip through ball, ground pass, etc, say what you think. If you see you are playing against a slow defender and your guy is a burner, let it be known. You all get what I am saying...

I know I am joking around about the professional footballer comment that you made yesterday Del, but it honestly was a retarded comment. Of course I am not a professional football player or have played professional football. If I had I don't think I would be sitting on my couch at 28 years old playing games on a Tuesday afternoon. I'd probably be out practicing on the pitch making defenders my bitch. However, I am a fan of the game, and have been for a while and I like to think I know a little bit about things. That being said my point is, I was trying to make a suggestion to us all mid game about or tactics and I think we need more people doing the same thing. Let's face it, our team doesn't have a winning record and any feedback, tactical suggestions, etc should be encouraged.

I know you love the tactics behind the game of football Dell, as do I which is what makes the game so god damn great. I know others know some shit too about it as well, and I think collectively we need to spend more time thinking of some new tactics, tweaking our guys, and really understand the formation we are running so we can get better.

By the way my name has 1 l and if you new the game you would know what each player role is in each formation and the best type of player build. 1 point that is missed a lot is how to read a game and when your getting over run to put a foot on it and play easy open passes to keep possession so you calm the game down also when the opposition have a back 5 cutting inside doesn't work it's quick accurate passing and clever runs and when the runs are spotted that will create goals. The reason we play a few formations is it depends on how many human players we have on the field. I say the any picks whatever formation he wants to run as he knows what he needs in defence etc.

 

Well you totally missed the entire point of my post and failed to realize that what I was saying was I know some about the game but I am no expert. However, it doesn't take an expert to realize that what we were doing at the time wasn't working. Chip through balls over the top and running to the corner and crossing it into the box everytime wasn't working. Also, I am not afraid not to say anything when it isn't working. I want the club to be better, so I am going to bitch about it.

Now we can sit here and bitch back and forth about it and you can call me out on how I don't know what the hell I am talking about which is fine. So how do we get better? What can I be doing better as a player? You have played enough with me to probably give some analysis. Is my player built right for my role as a left winger in the formation we are running?

More importantly, is anyone around now to play some clubs?

 

Dude I am offering my thoughts on what I think we should do to get better. I am raising discussion. I am not saying my way or the highway, I am asking what others think. I care about the club and I care about keeping it going. Sorry, but I think more people should be saying their opinions and not letting it just stay status quo.

Feedback should be welcomed by all participants in the club and not shunned. I said one comment during one game yesterday about what I thought we should do. If that's a crime, then I am guilty as charged. If no one wants feedback, then I won't give it anymore and we'll just play the game.

 

To be honest when you come out with a comment like being Goalkeeper can't be that hard when you have never even tried it offline etc and you have an ex pro Goalkeeper telling you that it is then you still choose not to listen how can you ever be helped man.

I sort of agree with the talk n feedback thing but I deal in facts n well informed feedback etc. Maybe I have read you a little wrong but the way you come across to me your wording at times just sounds like you think you know it all.

 

So to move the discussion along...What's going on for tonight/tomorrow night? Anyone around? Big props to the games during the day today! Fun stuff. Cole you really had the scoring stuff today, some great strikes!

 

First off, you have never played with a full club because you are never on when everyone else is. Most of us work normal hours and can't play video games during the day. I've played more than a dozen times with 8 players. If you want to play when everyone else is, then Wed nights and Fri/Sat/Sun night are where it's at.

Moon, you are right about one thing that we need to discuss the positions (again). I'm really getting frustrated with people taking on new positions and changing the role. I'll elaborate a bit on this in the appropriate thread. There is also a huge problem with people hanging on to the ball too long while trying to make a guy miss when it can easily be played back or to the side for the quick give-and-go around the defender. Again, will address elsewhere.

When everyone is on I think most people are pretty helpful with tactics and throwing ideas out. I'll be more vocal about telling others what they are doing right and wrong as I would hope people would step in and tell me when I'm screwing up. After all, we are a team and we should behave like one. However, the feedback must be tactful. I have a feeling that whatever Del took exception to was not done with such. Considering Del hardly ever speaks out about anything. So it makes me wonder...

 

99% of the time I play is in the evening. I work normal business hours as well, I just have been out sick the past two days which is why I have been able to play during the day.

 

I'm currently out of town for training and the hotel im at seems to have a retarded connection. I keep getting an error regarding the MTU.

Ill be on this weekend...unless i can figure out what the hell is going on. Playing FIFA by myself blows.
