    TFC - Heavyweight Tournament

    TFC HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENTS

(all round 1 matches will be 3 rounds and held at the Red Rock Casino venue)

    ROUND 1 MATCHUPS

#1 seed Frank Mir (RynoAid) vs. #8 seed Gabriel Gonzaga (cpu)
    Ref - Mario Yamasaki
Arguably the most talented Heavyweight fighter in the TFC, Mir was awarded the #1 seed in the tournament for good reason. He is a former 2 time UFC champion and looks like his career is back on track after his horrible motorcycle accident which almost ended his career. Gonzaga is no pushover though, and Mir will have his hands full with the big man. Watch for head kicks Frank, just ask Mirko Cro Cop

#4 seed Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (Sweetness) vs. #5 seed Tim “The Maniac” Sylvia (Marcman777)
    Ref - Herb Dean
These men have fought 3 times before with Sylvia holding a 2-1 edge in their matchups. The last time they stepped in the ring though, it was a snoozefest and one of the worst fights of 2006. Both men are hungry to start their TFC careers off with a win though, so expect a much better fight. This should be a standup war as both men prefer to fight on their feet than on the ground.

#2 seed Brock Lesnar (DigginGraves) vs. #7 seed Fabricio Wedum (cpu)
    Ref - Steve Mazzagati
As someone pointed out...Brock is a beast, that is all This monster only has 4 professional fights under his belt, but is already one of the most feared fighters in all of MMA and a former UFC champion. Werdum does possess some great BJJ skills, but will they work against a man as big and strong as Brock. A ground and pounding and TKO for Brock seems like a forgone conclusion.

#3 seed Antonio “Minotauro” Noguiera (Blaza) vs. #6 seed Cheick Kongo (Hot Rod)
    Ref - Mario Yamasaki
This might be the most interesting 1st round matchup of the 4. On paper it looks like a matchup of a wiley old veteran on the downside of his career vs an up and coming superstar. You can never count out Big Nog though. The guy is like a cockroach, he never seems to die. Can Kongo and his heavy hands put Nog down or will Minotauro pull a submission out of his ass like he’s done so many times before?
