    TFC - Lightheavyweight Tournament

    TFC LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENTS

(all round 1 matches will be 3 rounds and held at the Red Rock Casino venue)

    ROUND 1 MATCHUPS

#1 seed “Sugar” Rashad Evans (EaglesIrish) vs. #8 seed Wilson Gouveia (cpu)
    Ref - Herb Dean
Evans is undefeated and the former UFC champ. Since winning The Ultimate Fighter he has been like a freight train going down hill. He gets better every fight and seems to be on an unstoppable roll at this point. Gouveia has a long night ahead of him I think.

#4 seed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (Bruce80) vs. #5 seed Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva (Colemanchu)
    Ref - Steve Mazzagati
Was there an easier 1st round matchup in any weight class than this one? The word arch-enemies might not be strong enough to describe this matchup. They have fought 3 times prior. Wandy almost killed Rampage in Japan, but Jackson knocked Silva cold in their last fight. Silva holds a 2-1 lead in their fights. This match is too close to call. One thing for sure, it will be explosive and a good choice for fight of the night.

#2 seed Lyoto “Dragon” Machida (Bahnzo) vs. #7 seed Tito “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz (Bondzai)
    Ref - Mario Yamasaki
Machida retired Tito. Think that is enough hype for the rematch? Machida might have the best defense in all of MMA. He frustrated Ortiz in their 1st fight by striking and getting away before Tito could get him to the mat for his patented ground & pound offense. Will their 2nd fight be any different?

#3 seed Forrest Griffin (Bogey) vs. #6 seed Thiago Silva (Steel)
    Ref - Herb Dean
Griffin was the 1st Ultimate Fighter and therefore became the posterchild for the UFC. This angered a lot of MMA fans. But his LHW title reign ended all the talk of him being a spoonfeed fighter. Silva is also an up and coming star with only 1 blemish on his resume. This is a matchup of 2 of the brightest new stars in the sport and should be a great one.
