    That New Recruit Smell...

I figured this would be a good spot to discuss some of the new recruits...

I'll start...The top QB is #93OVR? Weak. I'm sooooo glad I'm not needing a stud QB this recruiting season.

After signing some dude last year whose name escapes me (maybe Basis remembers his name) I'm in the same boat.

I'll post my impressions of my new recruits, tomorrow, but I'll start by saying that Charles is going to be a monster as long as he stays healthy (because he's going to take a lot of hits in my offense with his running prowess). He seriously has some very HBesque ratings!

Yeah, Basis and I were looking them over last night and the line of QB's is very weak this year. NO 5 *.

There are some impressive LB's and WR's.

This recruiting class looks pretty sick. And of course, I only have 10 open scholarships.

I have 7 QB's on my roster, LOL.

Anyone see the two star ATH I recruited at QB? 75 overall, 85 speed, 89 break tackle.

    Denards eventual replacement?

WR#1 Clark Jenkins (6'5", 200) from Weston, WV...

    OVER-RATED!

This guy has B speed, C+ catching, C+ catch in traffic, B- spectatcular catch, B- jumping, B+ agility...Everything else is like what I already listed...Average.

    How is this guy #1?

Did you miss the TWO star part?

FYI, you are a recruiting powerhouse...my best pitch is that after college you get to go to Iraq.

Posting my recruiting class tomorrow. It is... well, let's just say I'm pretty sure my highest OVR was the punter (who I added like week 3 off-season). I also signed a 4* who is really slow and not too good. No one was going after him (obviously), so I decided to use some leftover minutes. At least I can say I signed a top-100 player!! :D

Will someone please go look up two names for me in recruiting this season? I need you to go look at G#8 and G#9 and come back here with their names...I know the answer, I just want you to go see their names. Very odd...

Ahhhh, what the heck, I'll just tell ya...

    G#8 = Patrick Patrick
    G#9 = William Williams

    I find this funny...

I know that Basis said of Mark Charles to beware of someone with 2 first names, but DAMN!

HAHAHAH! This is just absolutely incredible stuff. I cannot believe what I am seeing!

BTW anyone with THREE first names is a sure-fire serial killer.

Let me just say one thing...

I freakin' HATE Notre Dame and their stupid ability to come in and jump to #1 on every damn recruits list...It's rediculous!

Guys that had me #1 to start and that I've given all the love I'm allowed and have kicked ass on are dropping me down the list like hotcakes. Dang it!!!

Once again, "screw Notre Dame"...This week they get a commitment from 4* RB Chad Henderson out of Michigan. The kid is going to be a stud. He's the HB21 and #219 overall but was highly underrated. A- SPD, B- BTK and B- CAR.

Yeah I was #1 on his list to start for user teams, ND jumped in and I had no chance.

I guess there is an advantage to only being able to go after 3*'s: no battles. :D

At Nebraska, Coach Wildcatter has a Notre Dame recruiting rule. My coaches are basically instructed not to compete with Notre Dame for a recruit unless I am willing to spend considerably more time than I think Notre Dame will spend on that recruit. It's not worth losing out on other key guys that I would like to sign up. Notre Dame can't sign everyone so I will just go after the left overs!

Ha, it seems like this strategy is almost something you have to do...I wonder what the percentages are on guys ND really targets and gets compared to doesn't get. I'd bet it's at least in the 75-80% (gets) range.

I believe I'm 0-1 head to head vs Nebraska. And I couldn't have put more time into that 6'6" WR than I did last season. Same thing is happening to me with another 6'6" WR this year. And didn't Nebraska's "scraps" include 3 bonus 5*'s last year? Not too shabby.

I do the same thing. That HB Jello signed this year is a good example of a guy I loved, put on my board, but didn't pursue because I was behind a couple good user schools. I settled on the #21 HB who was an easy sign. I had a terrific class last year (after playing in the national championship game and then starting my season 10-0), and this year is shaping up for a very high-quality 10 player class. But in year 1, my class was weak and I got repeatedly owned by Florida and Michigan.

But by all means, I encourage everyone to employ this strategy.

Actually, ND is 1-1 head to head versus Nebraska. I went after a bonus guard last year, maybe the last name of Sims, pretty hard and you got him.

And like I mentioned, ND can't sign everyone so I will take those kind of scraps!
