After 3 years directing one of the most prolific offenses in NCAA history, Ryan Weaver arrives in Baton Rouge to take over a program in turmoil. With only a 1 year deal, Weaver must provide immediate results to stay in the Bayou. At Clemson, Weaver guided the other Tigers offense to 3 ACC titles and 2 BCS National Titles. His offense was the key to resurrecting a dead Clemson program. At LSU however, Weaver is the man in charge and also must show an ability to lead a defense. LSU returns a 92 OVR QB with a 94 acc and 99 Throw power. Simply put, he WILL flourish in this style offense. They have a decent SR TB who should do well. The key for the offense will be the WR corps. At Clemson, this was Weaver's bread and butter. This group appears much less talented. Sr. Odell Beckham must live up to expectations. The TE's are talented and could provide a bridge to next year when the WR talent should catch up. The OL looks to be excellent and should allow the QB time to make plays downfield. The Tiger D looks to be decent, but subpar to LSU standards. The move to the SEC will really test Weaver's ability to play defense, something he hasn't worried about in 3 years. Bottom Line: LSU is taking a gamble on Weaver, but his offense should compensate for a mediocre defense. He should be able to put up points and begin the rebuilding of this once dominant program. An 8 win season is a must.
