    Gators Win Opener

Coach KSherm has some new shiny toys to use this season and it shows. In what was suppose to be a close game as predicted in Vegas, the Gators mopped the floor with the visiting Mountaineers.

UF looked out of sync early on offense, but that's to be expected with a freshman at QB. Trey Burton got the start and after he settled down from getting his first action in the Swamp, he went on to be player of the game.

The Gator defense however didn't struggle at all. One of the best units in the land played lights out defense as soon as the coin toss was over. WVU looked like a JV squad at times trying to move the ball. This looks like an impressive unit, while I'm sure they'll get tested later in the season, things looked really good today.

With a commanding lead, the Gators got to get everyone involved today. The first unit played the first half but in the second half, coach KSherm worked everyone in. Freshman QB Anthony Johnson played the 3rd quarter and after throwing an INT on his first play, he settled in to go 7/9, 50 yds and a TD. Superstar freshman QB Mark Price would play the 4th. As he ran out onto the field the fans in the Swamp errupted as they've been praising this kid since signing day. And boy he didn't disappoint. His first carry went for 15 yards as he ran through multiple arm tackles. Unfortunately, he would get banged up on the play and need to come out for a short span but we've been assured he's ok and there are no lingering effects. He finished the day 2/3 65 yds TD while adding 28 yds on the ground on 4 carries with a TD.

Also getting in on the action was highly touted freshman RB Isaac Sanders as he had 5 carries for 31 yds with a long of 19.

    No Contest

The Gators came out ready to get this over with as they squared off with a heavily outmanned Wake Forest team. It was a nice weekend vacation for the Gators, albeit it rained the entire game.

On the first play, the Gators knocked the ball loose from WF HB and scooped it up. They'd march down the field and score on a 10 yd TD pass from Trey Burton to C. Gray.

Wake would answer with a score on their next possession as they managed the ball well driving the length of the field until M. Stewart connected with B. Ryan from 19 yards out. That would be all the scoring the Deacons would muster against a stout UF defense.

The Gators would struggle offensively from the 2nd quarter on as they couldn't manage to get the running game going. HB Mike Gilleslee looks like he's going to be a project this season as he continues to go down with an injury frequently.

The Gators got the win today, but they also found out they have some big holes on offense.

Great game from Wellar and the Deacons. They got some building to do, but he's a talented coach and could pull an upset or two in the ACC.

Gators Rebound against Hated Rival Volunteers

UF rebounded from their bad loss to UNC last week by winning a close one at home against Tennessee. The Gators won this game in a very unfamiliar fashion as they only allowed one TD all game. And maybe more surprising, the Gators were unbalanced, but not in the pass happy ways of usual.

This was a very close game that really was decided by two plays. In the first half, UT was faced with a 3rd and long situation and their sophomore QB found out what it's like to play in the Swamp. As he dropped back with immense pressure he thought he found his TE open for the first down. However FS Jensen had other plans as he jumped the route and took it to the house for 6.

The other key play came in the 2nd half. With UT looking to close the gap, Florida was faced with a 3rd and 12 in their own end of the field. QB Burton dropped back and recognized one on one coverage on the outside with SR playmaker Debose and let it fly. Debose made a spectacular catch as he came down inbounds for the first down on what might have been a game sealing play.

It was a great game from Tennessee. The INT got them again this year just like last year. It's a big win for the Gators but UT seems to be getting closer to winning this one every year. We'll have to see how things go next season. For now though, the Gators are undefeated in the SEC and the game with Georgia looms large on their schedule.

    Ground and Pound

The Gators took care of business at home against Ole Miss as they played host to numerous big name recruits this weekend. The Gators found a whole new arsenal to their offense after weeks of practice, the spread running game is finally coming to be.

The Gators displayed amazing balance as they rushed for 223 yds and passed for 205. Led by Freshman QB Mark Price, the Gators offense is looking sweet. The froshie knows this is his chance to prove he deserves the starting role while starter Trey Burton is on the shelf with an injury.

    Gators Tame Death Valley

The Gators tackled the Tigers this Saturday sending them to 2-3 on the season while the Gators moved to 5-1.

The Gators were led by senior sensation WR Andre Debose. He attained the trifecta in todays game, a TD passing (due to a stat glitch on an option pitch from the wildcat), rushing, and receiving.

The Gators also got another impressive performance from freshman QB Mark Price as he led the UF offense to 35 points. The other TD was by Dee Finley on an INT returned for a TD.

The Gators were also able to contain the Tigers heisman hopeful Russell Shephard, limiting him to 201 yds passing while throwing 2 INTs and a negative 24 yds rushing.

    Gators Chew up Razorbacks
