Direct from the mouth of San Diego State University Athletic Director:
The past hasn’t been good to the Aztecs. The Mountain West conference should be ripe for the picking. Boise State and TCU are on the decline and it is time for a new team to step forward and claim Mountain West victory. After an embarrassing early loss to Utah State followed by a loss to the struggling Pac 12 Beavers that team didn’t look like San Diego State. Even a win against an insignificant FCS team was bittersweet ending with star HB Ronnie Hillman injured for three weeks despite having no reason to even be in the game at that point. Luckily those days are over. Out with the old and in with the new! Please welcome the new San Diego State University head coach Osiris Monster!

    Head Coach Osiris Monster:
I didn’t take the time to learn the name of the coach I replace. What’s the point? I will guarantee I do a better job managing this team then he could. Whoever that coach was I do wish him well. I’m sure there is a high school team out there looking for mediocrity.

Since taking over the Aztecs no one has asked me what I plan to do with the team this year. Screw you! I’m going to answer anyway. My plans are simple. I will build the Aztecs into a dominate player in the Mountain West conference over my three year contract with the team. Nothing short of a Mountain West championship will satiate my thirst. The Aztecs have never been a player in division I NCAA football and that needs to change. The team has only won a single bowl game in the past 42 years. I plan on winning three over the next three years. Bold claim? I don’t think so. Such should be the expectation!

Now I don’t want people to think I discount Boise State and TCU as threats. They are the giants and we are David looking to topple the Goliaths of non-BCS opponents. That said they can be beat. It was only a few years ago that Nevada ended any hope Boise State had of a national title shot when it shattered their chance at sole ownership of a WAC title and BCS bowl berth. I know my team can do the same. We can beat Boise State and we can beat TCU. They have more talent, we have more heart.

I’m not going to sit here and lie to you about how I plan on ending my coaching career with the Aztecs. Chances are in three years I’ll be leaving for a better team, perhaps even a chance to coach my Alma Mater the Texas Longhorns. I do promise I will leave this team in a better place then I found it. Some will begrudge me leaving but the days spending a lifetime coaching a non-BCS team are long gone. I have a dream and that dream involves leading the Longhorns to BCS glory once again. As I work towards that goal San Diego State should rest well knowing they will improve by my passing.

To those opponents eager that a date with the Aztecs improves their bowl chances I have this to say. Circle that date on your calendars and prepare for disappointment. The Aztec Assault approached.

Im very disappointed your best running back will be out for our game coming up...though I highly doubt you will need him. My offense is run, run, incomplete pass, punt. So, there you go, have fun game planning for that one in 2 weeks!

Coach, you have a big game ahead of you against hated rival San Jose State. How important is winning this game to your program and to creating momentum heading into conference play?

This game is huge. Rivalry games are always huge. Now I know that San Jose State has had a bit of a rough run these past few years. The Spartan sword may be a bit limp in San Jose and under coach Recchem2000 they haven't lived up to their potential. It's true. That being said we take this game very seriously. A win isn't a forgone conclusion for us. We had four turnovers against Bowling Green and that team is filled with players that wished they played at San Jose State. We need to protect the ball if we are going to win. And I expect we will win. We need the help going into our conference schedule. Keys for the game? No big plays allowed on defense. Protect the ball on offense. Solid play by the offensive line. If we can do that we can take home a huge win.

The Revolution keeps on turning following the big rivalry game Aztec win over the Spartans. Coach Osiris Monster is said to have left a box of morning after pills for rival coach Recchem, to "help remove the sting of defeat in the morning."

Coach Osiris Monster, what are your thoughts on yesterday's win over the Spartans.

The game had both good and bad. Before the game I told our defense to not let the Spartans recievers get behind them. First play of the game Siluano lets the San Jose reciever get behind him when he makes a stupid play for the interception. 80 yards later we are down 7. Luckily our defense buckled down after that, though we still need to toughen up against the pass, especially the deep pass. We just aren't getting in position as fast as we should and our zones are getting picked apart as a result.

On offense we need to improve on the passing game. Our star reciever Nicholas disappointed. Not only did he drop three critical passes, two of them on third down, but his poor route running led to our only turnover of the game. I expect better of him and am confident he will show vast improvement going into conference play. Truth told our passing game never clicked for the majority of the game. While our rushing attack did good enough to make up the deficiet, we must improve on our passing attack if we hope to continue winning.

The one bright spot was definately our speical teams. Berhe sparked life back into a sullen Aztec sideline with his 69 yard punt return for a TD. He had a great return really showcasing his ability to avoid tackles in the open field. He definately was our player of the game last night. Our punting was spot on in the game forcing San Jose into long drives and Harris was able to make two key field goals to keep the game close.

We have a week off before we kick off conference play against a juggernaut of a team in Boise State. A win against Boise State will really solidify our bid for a Mountain West title and we will need our entire team to click to make that happen.

I thought that return was great...I hoped you save the highlight. It was a turning point in that first half for sure!

Didn't save it. This year NCAA has gotten me paranoid with doing anything that might cause the game to glitch out. I was going to record the game as well but it my recording software crashed on me and I couldn't get it back running.

Usually I'm horrible at special teams returns but that one just clicked. Once I got outside of the initial punt return defense I was able to get some well timed juke moves to avoid tackles. A rare return for sure and one I doubt I'll mimic again.
