    Kent State 31 - Akron 21

It was a beautiful day for football in Akron Ohio. Kent State started the scoring by marching down the field absolutley tearing the feebile Akron D up. Spenser Keith capped the drive with a 10 yard stike to Pressley on a slant route. Then the Golden Flashes D stood up strong and held Akron to a quick three and out.

Akron got on the board with 29 seconds left in the first quarter as Dale Martin took a handoff 49 yards to the endzone. End of the first quarter 7-7.

In the second quarter Kent drove straight down the field again looking to take the lead, but Holmes picked off a pass in the endzone. Akron's high quickly became a low when 2 plays into the drive Freshman qb Pohl threw a pick to Wolfe who took the ball to the house. 14-7 Kent

Kent was able to score before half on a 44 yard run by third string RB Hollomon. 21-7 Kent at the half.

Akron's coach Goose must have given one hell of a halftime speech as Homes took the kickoff 98 yards to the house. 21-14 Kent

Pohl was able to hit Gary Pride for a 12 yard TD to bring the score to 24-21 Kent but that was as close as the Zips would get the rest of the way as Kent scored in the 4th to make the game 31-21.

Spencer Keith ended the day 8 of 15 for 108 yards with 2 tds and 1 int

Kyle Pohl ended 11 of 25 for 154 yards 1 td and 1 int

Both Hollomon and Arcer ended the day with 88 yards on the ground.

Dale Martin had 74 yards for Akron.
