New Orleans, LA. - Reports out of the Saints front office is that ownership has locked down LT Jermon Bushrod to a 4 year agreement. The 5th year left tackle was reportedly high on the list of players the Saints were looking to resign this season.
In bigger news the Saints also inked QB Drew Brees to the deal he has been seeking. Initial reports indicate the deal to be a 5 year agreement worth over $90 mil. While the All Pro QB is key to the Saints recent success, Coach Truth recently expressed concerns over Brees's $20+ mil salary due in year 5 of his deal.
With the signings of Bushrod and Brees, its widely accepted that the team is going to let WR Devery Henderson and LOLB Scott Shanle test the free agent market. The performance of rookie WR Nick Toon along with the presence of WR Lance Moore while WR Marques Colston was down in weeks 4 and 5 apparently gave the front office enough confidence to pass on the high demands of Henderson. The Saints are looking to undrafted rookie WR Joe Morgan to fill the speedy Henderson's roll in Season 2.
