Turnovers seal the Longhorns fate.
The Silver Bullet D caused 4 turnovers on the day, recovering 2 fumbles and intercepting 2 passes leading the Buckeyes to a 24-7 victory in Austin. The first quarter ended in a deadlock as both defenses would not allow the other team passed the 40 yard line. The Buckeyes got on the board with a 42 yard post to C. Medlock, it looked like Texas was running a two deep zone and Medlock just blew passed the linebacker to get open. Ohio State would get the ball back as Senior CB Allen Young would pick his first of two Morrow passes, but the Longhorn D as the Buckeyes got down to first and goal with 15 seconds left to only nail a 31 yard field goal as the half expired.
On the second play of the second half Buckeye LB Coe knocked the ball loose from HB Butler with Clark falling on the ball. The Buckeyes only needed one play as HB Wright would squeeze through the line for a 42 yard TD run. The Buckeyes would score their final TD when FS Lawrence would knock the ball loose from Whitfield and Senior LB Crum would scoop and score the TD.
Brent Johnson finished the day 10 of 14 for 200 yards with 1 Td for the Buckeyes
Will Morrow finished 9 of 16 for 143 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT's
Brett Butler would run for 47 yards on 11 carries for the Longhorns
Nate Anderson and Donnie Wright combined for 88 yards on 23 carries with 1 TD.
The Buckeyes look to take on Arizona State in Columbus next week as the Longhorns get an extra week of practice before the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame come to Austin in 2 weeks.
