    Week 1
    Nevada @ UCLA

Shaq Evans making an unbelievable catch where he leaped above the corner, made one move, and took it to the house.
Nevada showed up ready to play during the first quarter. QB Fajardo began the game completing his first 8 passes. They drove down the field and scored with ease in that first quarter and even shut the gates on UCLA in the red zone by causing RB Jordan James to fumble. James was hit pretty solid by one defender and seemed to regain his balance, but as soon as he did he was crushed by a vicious hit from Lane.
That fumble was the only time the UCLA team showed any weaknesses. The defense shut down Nevada for the next three quarters with ease and the offense was pretty much unstoppable, converting 8/8 on 3rd downs. UCLA QB Hundley started this season just as he had finished the last by showing just how dangerous he can be from under center. Hundley finished the game with 324 passing and 4 TDs with another 54 yards on the ground. He did this by spreading the ball around to 7 different receivers, but his favorite target was definitely Sr. Wr Shaq Evans (8 rec. 146 yrds 3 TDs). Evans may have stole the show with his ability to get open and find holes in zone coverage.
The Bruins will look to the bye week to prepare them for a very tough matchup against Nebraska in week 3.

    Week 3
    UCLA @ Nebraska

UCLA and Nebraska both came ready to battle it out at Memorial stadium. UCLA left battered and bruised with emotional wounds to tend to while the cornhuskers stood proud and tall after defending their home turf with pure brute force. UCLA looked to be the better team in the first quarter as they moved the ball down the field on their first drive only to stall on the one yard line. Coach Clinton gambled and passed on the easy 3 points and failed on a 4th down attempt from the 1 yard line. That decision and those 3 points will haunt him on into the night and maybe on into the season.
UCLA recovered quickly as Hundley threw a pass into the corner of the end zone and TE John Young made a bobbling catch to put up the first 7 points of the game. The two teams continued to feel each other out much into the 2nd quarter until Martinez threw a beautiful pass to WR Turner for a 37 yrd. TD. Then with 54 seconds before the half kicker Bondi drained a 54 yard FG. Those 3 points gave Nebraska the lead and were the final points placed on the scoreboard at Memorial stadium.
With freshman QB Woulard at the helm because of a Hundley concussion on the last play before the half, UCLA was able to make a final push toward the end of the game. UCLA had crossed into Nebraska territory with under 2 minutes remaining in the game only needing a FG. The pressure on the true freshman QB was too much. An errant pass sealed UCLA's fate when Woulard threw an interception trying to hit his TE on a route across the middle.

Jonathan Rose cradling the ball like a baby after his INT guaranteed his team the win.
Nebraska was able to hold onto that lead with the outstanding play of their O-line and D-line. UCLA's front lines were no match for the big ole Nebraska boys. The Nebraska O-line held their blocks longer, hit the defense harder, and got out in front much more often than UCLAs. This great blocking allowed Martinez to have a career day as he completed 92 % of his passes. RB Abdullah enjoyed his O-lines success too rushing for 100 yards. The D-line was able to pressure UCLAs entire backfield throughout the game. The D-line of Nebraska laid huge hit after huge hit. They even sacked Hundley 5 teams in the first half alone. The final sack knocking him out with a concussion for the rest of the game.

Hundley falling awkward after being sacked and hit his head just right on the defenders knee to cause a concussion and end his football for the day.

    New Mexico St. @ UCLA

Exhausted, pained, and heartbroken is definitely how New Mexico St. is feeling after giving UCLA all they had in a tough battle that UCLA barely survived. New Mexico St. had a total of 419 total yards to UCLA's 350 and 23 first downs to UCLA's 17. If it wasn't for the strong performance by RB Jordan James who knows what the outcome may have been.
James returned 2 kickoffs for TDs and had 87 yards rushing with an additional TD. Hundley also added a TD while throwing for 249. The Bruin are still struggling in the secondary which is allowing teams to stay in games or get the lead and hold onto it like in the Nebraska match up. New Mexico States QB started the game a perfect 16-16 until the coaches on the sidelines started dialing up more pressure to get the QB out of rhythm. Without that adjustment and James' performance the reactions of New Mexico states players in the above pictures may have been a lot different.

    Week 6
    UCLA @ Utah

T.Wilson didn't see A. Jefferson jump the route when he got intercepted for a TD.
Utah had a great game plan going into the game. They decided to shut down the UCLA run. This made Jordan James a non-factor which really hurt the UCLA offense. James all season has been the coaches go to guy to grit out those hard yards and today those yards got even harder to get. The UCLA offense was held to only 43 yards rushing and James had 56 yards total on 21 carries. Those 21 carries are a key stat because they show how Coach Clinton never gave up on his game plan and continued to play field advantage and let his defense keep his offense in the game. The defense allowed plenty of yards, but their bend and don't break attitude allowed UCLA to come away with a victory. For the first time this season the secondary under Coach Clinton decided to play a little better. The Utah QB struggled at times to find a rhythm passing the ball and even threw a pick six in the first quarter which ended up being huge. Hundley also threw a pick early in the game, but regained his composure and finished 18/24 for 208 with a TD and an INT. Hundley's ability to regain his composure was probably helped by the outstanding day that Sr. wide receiver Shaq Evans was able to have. Evans was too much for the entire Utah secondary. He racked up 10 catches for 112 yards and 1 TD.
The team is improving, but not quite fast enough. Its going to take a lot of effort and a flawless game for the Bruins to come away with a win next week against Cal.

Looks like you're the only user with games that have any resemblance of defense, lol.

The get yardage, but I am just able to keep them out of the endzone...once they get in the redzone the flaws with defense go away bc its a shorter field I feel like.
