The reason I want to sort of work it out and get talking about it is that we are still waiting to hear from the last few members. It's still early guys, no need to rush it out. The balancing issue I talked about earlier is something I'm starting to think more and more about, especially with rebuilders. I'm just worried about getting into a situation like we were in with NCAA 2009. Where the conference winners were basically the same people every year. With our two conference setup this year, it was much more balanced, with different people winning their division each year, let alone the conference. Sort of weird to explain, but I just thought it should be put out there for people to think about.
Well, not necessarily. I think the ACC might fit better for the mid-level teams. Just something we have to think about. We are going to play the game for a whole year on this setup. Might as well put some effort into setting it up right.
if only two guys are willing to join the ACC its gonna be hard to convince 4 other guys to leave either the BIG 12 or SEC.....
That's why I took Texas Tech, I just want to see how a throw on every down does. It'll be different for me. I can always switch my offense if I get killed every game.
You missed the Florida State spread the last three seasons. My true junior quarterback had 1600 career attempts before leaving.
why dont we list are top 6 schools 2 per confrence....we could always throw out VT for WVU to accomidate sandman...
When it comes down to it I really don't care what team I have. The thing about this dynasty is the members in it so it will be fun for me no matter what team I have. If we can't get enough guys to take a team in a certain conference I will be able to find one that I like.
This wasn't mentioned as one of the original options in the voting, but has anyone ever thought about using Mid-Majors? It would make sense since we are already doing rebuilders and there's plenty of cool/fun teams to choose from. For instance, we could go two conferences, say MWC and WAC, 6 teams in each. Would make for great user vs user battles for conference championships and then we could play the big boys (UF, Tex, USC, OU, Bama, etc.) for our out of conference games. Some cool teams would be: Utah TCU Hawaii Fresno St BYU etc. Again, just putting this out there since it wasn't an original option and there's 1.5 months before kickoff. I think it could be fun and would differentiate us as a league from the other premiere leagues as well.
I think the talent level, depth and recruiting tenaciousness of this league would make mid-majors complicated. Considering the length of our dynasties and how many seasons we get in, the talent level of the user teams will far surpass the rest of the conference. Mid-majors is a good idea for 4-6 seasons, but after that, I don't know how much it would hold up. This year, the good CPU teams should still be mediocre by the time we hit that threshold. Even this year we were still losing to CPU teams in seasons 7-8.
I'd like mid-majors only because i'm a UCF alum and would love to run with them. However, I agree with Drifter that it would probably not work in this league.
Shouldn't we be able to keep the CPU competitive though with the new recruiting slider? I know it won't be perfect, but we should be able to give the CPU a fighting chance.
I think I would have to tune the sliders to an unrealistic level in order to keep it competitive. It's bad enough having to adjust them for powerhouse teams and mid-level BCS schools. Although I think it won't be AS BAD for NCAA '11. Or at least it's wishful thinking on my part. A small part of me thinks that the read options and other plays that didn't work in this years game are going to be overly effective this year. There are types of leagues where mid-majors work great, but I just don't feel this is one of them.
I'm still waiting to here some feedback from you guys as well as here from the last couple guys. I don't think we are at a point where we are rushed to figure things out. Now should be a time where we voice concerns and decide what to do as a group.
I personally think we should go the way we voted (3 conference, mid-level teams) and draft teams. You can limit the number of schools per conference and it works out the way it works out. I don't care where I draft at, so random order or seniority is fine with me.
IF everyone wants to do an arbitrary order and draft and be stuck with whoever you are stuck with, then that is fine. Just felt like we could have worked it out to where everyone gets a team they would like to use. I'm good either way, honestly. Either way, I still am waiting on the last few guys to give me a heads up. Should be sometime soon.
If we are using a 3 conference setup, then It works out good as it would go like this(taken from BBJ's post): Big 12 N GoGators-Missouri Sandman-Colorado Big 12 S Bondzai-Okie State Bogey-Texas Tech SEC W OM-Ole Miss FLO- SEC E Khaalis-Kentucky JR-South Carolina ACC A Drifter-Wake Forest Mutt/?- ACC C BBJ-North Carolina Shaun-Duke We just need Flo's & Mutt's pick & then we will 4 guys in each conference.
