    THe Future of the TFRL???

Hey guys I am looking for ideas and want to start brainstorming something new for the TFRL.

The casual racing week to week is nice and not a commitment based action but I am looking for more. Ryno's super series was a great idea that fell apart some where along the line. Want something a bit more concrete that will require a tiny bit more commitment from the drivers and get them more excited about the racing.

    Some random thoughts:

    • We have drivers of all different skill levels. We can do something along the lines of group racing. Where you are racing against a group and not everyone. I am not sure groups would be even though.
    • NASCAR - Oval racing was fun but you need a full field of 8 and IMO a full field of 16 would be better but no possible. I know when we raced this style most people enjoyed it
    • Handicap system - I would love to implement some sort of handicap but it is very subjective and difficult to implement.
    • A series based event which puts all drivers in same cars. (like Ryno's)
    • Team racing - 3 teams of 2, 2 teams of 3. Always fun.
    • Relay team racing - Sounds crazy but can be done....might be boring on long laps as you will be sitting waiting as much as racing.
Anyway these are just a few things flying in my head and I want the TFRL to get stronger and not die. I love racing with you guys but I want it to feel a bit more structured and important.

Feel free to add to this discussion and I hope we can come to a new plan for the TFRL.

    Thanks

I am going to throw this out there too. If we do come up with a plan and needing credits is problem. I can supply credits to racers that are committed to the plan and that I know and trust.

I have to say I really enjoyed the V8 races we did and think a series based thing would be great. maybe work handicaps into it etc sounds good to me mate.

I think we should try to do some type of SportsCar Series or NASCAR (with restrictions).

I've really started to enjoy the races now that there are a few more of us n00b drivers. But one thing that I think caused TRFL to lose a little steam was that not everyone really plays the game regularly. So for the casual racer like me, not only do we suck, but we don't have the credits to build a competitive car each week. I started to feel dirty sending Del naked pics of my bum each week in exchange for Forza Credits. :(

I also enjoyed the series. We can always go back to the v8s. Maybe start off where we left off.

i'd be down for something that was series based, where we all had the same car or very, very similar like the Aussie V8's.

the reason we stopped that series was my lack of steering wheel... now that i have that resolved, i could do it... my only issue is time commitment, im swamped until May with school, but im out until September after that so i will have some free time.

Depending on the time commitment and when we plan on racing I'd be down. Things have been a bit hectic for me lately, but I'm hoping by sometime in the next few weeks it will chill out a bit.

It would still only be a 60-90 min weekly event. But that is not counting prep.

If it were more of a series type thing, I could definitely commit my Wednesdays to Forza. I must admit, not having it mean anything (standings-wise) doesn't hold my interest as much as it would otherwise.

I like the Team Racing idea. JMS and Helli could rate every driver either an A, B, or C, and then we could form teams of 3, each team having one of each letter. This is used in golf tournaments a lot.

YEah the team racing is cool b/c it also in corporates the group idea. If you had a teams like
Helli, Casino, Bonzai VS Del, jms, Blaza

Del will challenge Helli, Casino Challenges jms and Blaza and Bondzai battle it out.

Problem is if one dude doesnt show up it the whole thing gets fucked up.

Del and I are trying to set up a clio series in another league that we are in. the cars are B500 and everyone will run the same build and tune and they are so much fun to drive especially with a full grid.
i think that they would work here as well, as the cars are not perfect and with traction turned off even the best drivers can get the back stepping out

    food for thought :)

Now that the NBA regular season is over and all of my Wednesdays are free I'm ready to get back in this full speed. I like the team idea a lot and would also like to see a series race.

I do like a series race and I am thinking about possible cars to choose and classes. I would like to do like 2 - 15 lap races a night though. This way if you have a bad race the whole night is not a wash.

I was thinking like 1 15 min race and then a 5-10 min break and if you want to go and modify or tune your car for race 2 based on race 1 performance.

Ok lets do a Series race.

2 races each wed night at 10 pm for 5 weeks. A total of 10 races and you can drop your worst 2 finishes. The standings will be based on the lowest average finish on a min of 8 finishes races. There fore you can only miss 1 night out of 5.

I am thinking of having handicap for Bondzai and Blaza. Either a headstart or allow them to have a 20 point increase in their PI index.

Cars: I am thinking A Class. I need input here.

    • American Modern Muscle - Camaro or Mustang or Challenger
    • Vipers - Everyone grab a 99 viper
    • Audi S5 - Everyone can use the Audi S5.
    • The Exotics - Lambo or Ferrari or Porsche
    • BMW - 135i class only
    • STIs
    • Evos
    • Vettes
Basically we need a fun car that everyone will enjoy racing with for 10 races. What would would need is someone to make a good tune and then put it on there storefront for everyone to grab. Then everyone would have the same car. If we gave Blaza and Bondzai a higher PI then it would need to be the same also.

    Thoughts?

I was talking with Del about a German Touring Cars series - the A4 Touring vs. the C-Class Mercedes Touring. They show the races on Speed all the time.

The cars are slow, but they handle well, and there are some good paint jobs out there.

Sounds good! I like the idea of everyone running the same tune also.
I am clueless when it comes to tuning

Good ideas everybody. I'd be interested in some kind of a series where the PI was mid-range. Like A550. In other words you cannot buy tunes for the most part... RWD, very similar types of cars... Like say a Japanese night or an American night or whatever...

Either that or a range based on perceived skill level.

    A535
Hellisan and/or Mitch if he showed

    A540
    Del, JMS, Casino

    A550
    Blaza, Bondzai, etc.

I hate the idea of teams. I wish I could recommend it but you'd pair me with somebody like Blaza who I know wouldn't get involved and that would kill the fun sorry. A "team" is not me sending him something to race with etc.
