Today is actually a pretty big day as far as album releases go: Kanye West - Yeezus J. Cole - Born Sinner Mac Miller - Watching Movies With The Lights Off and in the next two weeks you have: Jay-Z - Magna Carta Holy Grail Wale - The Gifted I think there is also a Tech N9ne album in there somewhere. Someone told me I need to give Fat Tony's "Smart Ass Black Boy" a listen. Anyone give these a listen yet? Impressions? Anything I'm missing? HovaTheGodMC Philstyle3005
I like alot of tracks on Mac's album. Will buy Yeezus and Born Sinner today after work and listen to both for the first time. Will be buying the Jay-Z album of course as well. Drake's album is coming out soon as well, I think it's going to be pretty damn good. I heard Eminem is dropping this year as well but not confirmed?
For real though, I have damn near every album ever made in my pocket...my collection > your collection.
Looking forward to Wale next week and Jay-Z in a few weeks. Curious to see if the rumors of Eminem coming out in July are true (hopefully they're not like the Detox rumors) Also Drake will come out mid-end August I believe. Probably some more that I'm missing. As far as today goes, I'm sure Kanye will outsell Mac and Cole, but Mac and Cole's CD are MUCH better than Yeezus was to me anyway. Kanye really disappointed me with this as I've liked Graduation, College Dropout, and other Kanye Albums but this just wasn't that great to me. Mac Miller- He exceeded my expectations with this album. Right now, Watching Movies, Remember, Someone like you are my favorite. Cole- Cole delivered exactly like I expected. Has some great songs, and adding Truly Yours 2 to the deluxe edition was a great decision as Truly Yours had some great songs on it. Upcoming: Wale- Haven't heard much about this CD, but I like a lot of his music and his lyrics. Jay-Z- I'm expecting something big after seeing the samsung commercial. I've always been a fan, and I'm willing to bet this will be an album with a lot of fire.
I haven't given any of them a whole listen, but what I've heard from Mac and Cole I like a lot. Kanye has great spots (New Slaves) but some questionable ones.
We should ban Ghost from this thread since he dissed KRS-1 once in the CB Only new shit I have been rocking is Wu-Block & Ghostface new album "Twelve Reasons to Die" Fuck 99% of these new rap clowns , they are lucky Pac is not around anymore.
Call me obsessed, but I cannot allow myself to listen to any of today's drops until i watch the Miley Cyrus twerk video 100 more times. Consecutively.
WMWTSO was the 2nd best I have heard in a while. (Next to Kendricks) The production was amazing and the lyrics have stepped up another level for Mac. Born Sinner was as expected. Amazing. J Cole is just so consistent. Yeezus was complete trash IMO. Eminem is definitely working on a solo album. Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock are all amazing and working on their albums. It is a great time for hip hop.
So i checked out Yeezus. Seemed over-reliant on cheesy one liners and the beats seemed FAR too complicated. Like he sat there thinking "I got 100 hot tracks and only 10-12 songs i want to put on the album. Dafuq am i gonna do? I KNOW! I'm gonna combine all these together!!!"
I went to see PE, Ice Cube, De La Soul & LL Saturday. Excellent f'n show, Cube is the man. I listened to the Kanye release and continued to take a shit to get it out of my system. Just first impression so I may give it another listen. J. Cole is legit and his release is just that. The Land of Snakes track has the sample from Outkast's Art of Storytelling and he killed it IMO. Mac's is good from what I have heard thus far through 3-4 tracks. Wale should be as good as Rick Ross is minimized. I have been a Wale fan for years but him being on MMG takes away something for me. I will probably buy Jay's new release b/c it's Jay. I need to listen to the Action Bronson release. Also if anyone has not heard them yet check out the Flatbush Zombies they are pretty damn good.
