The Jacksonville Jaguars came into this season with a terrible looking future ahead of them, a new coach and a new owner. Their Quarterback situation was not the best, MJD was questionable, the wide receiver spot was iffy and the defense was in need of a wake up call. The Jags started off the first 3 weeks of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks. Yep you guessed right 0-3. They tired Chad Hene and Sunshine, yes Sunshine. Some of you may know Sunshine from "Remember the Titans" and that is the name given to Blain Gabbert by yours truly. None of these MF's could get the job done. Not even the rookie Matt Scott from Arizona could get things going. Insert Dennis Dixon. The Jags got their first win week 4 against the Colts. Dixon was 21/31 for 285 yards 4 touchdowns and 2 picks. The Jags won that game 32 - 29. It felt good to get that first W, but it was short lived as they lost the following week against Rams 25 - 21. Week 6 saw the Jags bounce back against the Broncos 16 - 10 and then fall once again the following weeks to the Chargers and 49ers. The young Jags were being consistently inconsistent with their game play, but they were making strides at getting better and figuring out a way to correct minor issues with their play and improve their play calling. The defense benefited from the new offense as the defense spent less time on the field and getting rest to help the team close the games out. The Jaguars headed into the bye week (week 9) 2-6 with a heavy divisional/conference schedule ahead of them. The Jaguars were also in last place in the AFC South. They took the bye week to reflect on the progress they have made as an offense and what they needed to do to make that playoff push. Leading the charge coming out of the bye week is non other then MJD. He and Dennis Dixon, the new starting QB have compiled a record of 6 - 0 and are now 8 - 6 and in first place in the AFC South. During this time Dennis Dixon put up amazing number and even a perfect QBR against the Cleveland Browns 23/29 430 yds and 4 touchdowns with no turnovers. Their most recent victim was the Buffalo Bills. Mercedes Lewis lit up the Bills with 6 rec for 107 yards. MJD had a beast of a game too 15 carries for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Jaguars are in position to finish out the season 10 -6 and go into the playoffs as a wildcard. the Oakland Raiders at 13 - 1 are the #1 seed and the Miami Dolphins at 12 -2 are the #2 seed in the AFC. All that matters right now to the Jaguars are the 2 games remaining on their schedule against the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts. Win out, Win the division and into the playoffs. Not bad for a team that "Started from the Bottom" as Drake would say.
