Home of the "Soon to be Champs."
Ravens (31) @ Jets (24)
JETS LOSE HOME OPENER TO STINGY RAVENS
On the first play of the Jets second drive, Mark Sanchez reared back and heaved a bomb to his new WR Santonio Holmes. All he needed to do was run under it and it was six points. 58 yards later, the Jets were first to hit the scoreboard.
The Jets started out hot, ripping off decent runs and lengthy drives that seemingly wore out the Ravens defense, but after a 19 yard run that resulted in Sanchez getting injured, the Jets turned to Kellen Clemens. The rhythm was disrupted, the offense stalled, and aside from the lucky sideline catch that Keller hauled in for a 78 yard TD, the offense never re-found its rhythm.
Sanchez would return to be hit repeatedly by a relentless Ravens defense. He was often hit as he threw the ball, which resulted in 2 INTs, one to big-boy Terrance Cody of the Ravens. Shonn Greene fumbled twice in the second half on consecutive drives and the holes just weren't there for the Jets to run through.
They play the Patriots next week, and the Dolphins shortly after. If they Jets want the right the ship, they will have to do it the hard way by going through Gaddy.
David Harris will miss close to 3 months with a Broken Collarbone.
