Tensions ran high in Kansas City following the Chiefs humiliating home loss Sunday to a rookie-led Vikings squad, putting them at a dismal 1-3 for the season and 0-2 for the series against the NFC Norse division. So high was this tension that a fight broke out in the weight room during a mandatory Monday workout between veteran halfback Thomas Jones and rookie first rounder Jonathan Baldwin. The scrim allegedly happened when Jones called out Baldwin for dropped passes, of which Baldwin had 2, one of which was a well thrown ball that would have given the Chiefs an early 7-0 lead and some much needed momentum. Baldwin also dropped a wide open touchdown pass in a heartbreaking one point loss to the Chargers last week. When asked about the incident, Jones denied calling out Baldwin, emphatically stating that he would never call out a teammate for such mistakes, followed by saying that "this is a team issue and we will deal with it the same way we win or lose every week, as a team. With this being the second incident already involving Baldwin(Jones got between Baldwin and Jamaal Charles because Baldwin was allegedly upset with Charles over what he deemed to be some excessive rookie hazing) Chiefs nation is left wondering: do they have another Larry Johnson situation on their hands? Are these just growing pains? Only time will tell and unfortunately that is something these 1-3 Chiefs do not have much of. In closing, Andrew Luck passed on the opportunity to be the #1 overall pick in this years draft and decided to stay in school and finish his senior year. I said to myself "wow, this kids got real character, too bad the Chiefs will never get him." With the 1-3 Chefs struggling and their ever-toughening schedule, we are left to ponder: is Luck the final and not-so-secret ingredient in Coach Todd's recipe for success?
