I'd be willing to head out that way sometime Moon. We might have to meet in the middle somewhere though.
Alright so I'm putting August the 17th on my calendar. We need to tag others to get them to commit. 4 people is fine but if we could get 8 that'd be cool.
Just really inconsistent. Sometimes I will bomb the drives and they'll go straight. Sometimes they'll have a big hook or slice. Sometimes I hit the irons really well and sometimes they won't get off the ground. I've gotten better with all of the pitching wedge shots so the shots with that usually aren't too bad. Not good enough at it to really make up for missed strokes elsewhere. I almost never 1 putt, but normally I leave it close enough to get 2 most of the time.
Great thread, kind of mad I'm just seeing it!! At any rate, before this year I never really took golf seriously. I had played a few times as a kid, and a few times a couple years ago. Never really took it too serious though. This year, I've found myself immensed(sic) in it. I've used the same set every time I've played, Callaway Big Bertha's. However; I recently purchased a new driver and 3 wood (What can I say, the big heads finally got me. -Insert Roy Hibbert's favorite saying here-), both Nike VR-S Pro clubs. So far I love them. Finally getting the driver down, but still a long way to go. Currently I shoot a 120 or so every time. My best so far this year has been a 108, and of course that course was water free (something rare for down here in Florida!). I'm scheduled to take my first ever golf lessons in August and can't wait. My biggest problem is just that I haven't found MY swing yet. A swing where I don't have to think about anything, just get up there and do it. My worst club would have to be my 3 Iron, so I'm looking into purchasing a 3 or 4 Hybrid. Hear that they have much more give than a long iron. My short game has came a long way so far though. Chipping is my favorite part of the game now, and now I'm just focusing on ridding my game of 3 putts! (AKA The Silent Killers!!) I actually just regripped my putter yesterday with a 2.0 Superstroke, so can't wait to get out and use that. Anyways, that's a little insight on my game. Pretty new to it, but trying to get better!! Anybody play in the Tampa, FL area??
What I've been up to lately. This doesn't include all my rounds since May, but its most of them. Spoiler
How did you like Hilliard Lakes? A couple people I work with live by that course and we played it a couple years ago.
Not too shabby honestly. Course was in good shape, par 3's were fun. I think it was...... 9 maybe? It was brutal.
I believe 9 is a longish par 3 with water on the left and bunkers on both sides. The hole that kills me there is the zig zag par 5. It might be #6 or # 7.
Wen to play yesterday but got rained out. I played the first hole and shot a 6(par 5) so maybe it was a good thing it rained when it did. I was hitting pretty good on the range though.
http://www.gulfshoresgolfclub.com/course.html A course I played while on vacation in Gulf Shores, AL. I also played this course but didn't keep the score card because I was wasted and for got it but I did shot an 86. http://www.peninsulagolfclub.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp
A lot to catch up on here. Here's what I've been up to since my last update. Spoiler Average front 9 but the best 9 holes I've played in my life with a 36 including 3 birds on the back! Could have been under par if not for the freaking double on 18. I didn't want to post this out of shame, lol. But it happened. It was a tough course, but there was no excuse. By the end of the day I could barely make contact with the ball. It was sad. But the very next day... EAGLE BABY! My eagle putt! Drained it
Just bought these irons: http://www.hurricanegolf.com/close-...nnel_advisor&gclid=CPiq_6zym7kCFfA7MgodhRIALg I also picked up a used Nike putter (idk what it is, but when I buy things for sports I like to go with one brand- maybe golf should have been an exception but this is what I will have regardless). Anyways blah blah blah- I'm looking for a good driver to add to my first "real" set of clubs. There is a Callaway Diablo on ebay for like $50, but I thought I would pick a few knowledgeable (lol) people's brains before I dove into this final bit of the set. So thoughts on drivers MoonBBad , krtgolfing , Danthraxxx , Keller ?
Not a lot of choices in South Dakota (and would rather not drive 2 hours for what choices there are- and likely have to pay more). But, that said, I certainly do agree and wish I could have.
You can't tell me there isn't a place where you can hit clubs to test them. I'm not sure if Dicks lets you test them but plenty of places do, including some golf courses that have nice pro shops etc.
I'm assuming you didn't read it then? haha kidding, but I only looked a few posts back here for names. I'm open to any and all input from TSO'ers
