Well the season is upon us. It's finally here! Lions fans are so excited for this season. New Owner Heath Howard believes this team has what it takes to contend. "I think we can push for the division, I feel we are a few pieces away from the team I'd like to have, but very happy with what we've got!" Howard stated this morning.

After Free Agent Waiver Claims the Lions picked up 3 very exciting players:

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

The Lions were able to pick up Rookie HB Le'Veon Bell. Bell was cut by the Steelers, which excited Mr. Howard. Howard knows what he is getting with Bell. "He's big, physical, and has very good agility to make plays happen. Very good change of pace from Bush" "He dominated UGA in the 2nd half of the Outback bowl a couple of years ago. We're glad to have him!"

Lions also picked up LOLB Quincy Black. Sources say Black will be used a specialist in the passing game, but will be very handy if one of the starters were to get hurt. "We love his speed, and coverage skills!" Howard said. "Trust me he will be helping our front 4 get to the quarterback!"

and the 3rd pick up was defensive back, 2nd yr player Nieko Thorpe. Thorpe was cut by the Chiefs who are loaded at the position and need to make room for other players. Another depth chart casualty that falls to Mr Howard.

Thorpe was signed because of his size and physical ability. "He's a hard hitting CB, he's physical at the line of scrimmage and I love that hes 6 feet tall with speed to boot!" Howard said. "I watched him progress at the University of Auburn and he turned int a good Cornerback, all he needs is a little coaching and skills training and he could blossom into a #2 Corner for us very easily" Howard added.

Lions feel good going forward, and are looking forward to their week 1 match-up with Division Rival Minnesota
    Vikings.

Lions Roar over Vikes 24-21 in Week
In the 1st game of the season the Lions held on to win against Adrian Peterson and the might Vikes. "It was a game to the finish, but the Defense stepped up and created one final turnover and our Offense was able to drive out the clock." Owner Heath Howard said. The Lions looked terrible through out the game on Defensive run game, and could not get the big pass play ability going on Offense.

AP was a force as always for the Vikes. He racked up 244 yards on 17 carries, scoring 2 TD's. The Lions we able to make him cough up the football once.

The Lions didnt have a stellar game on Offense but showed promise with the New Additions on the team!

    OFFENSE
Stafford only completed 13 out 18 passes for 187 yards for 1 TD and NO INTs

The ground game is something new the Lions were hoping to get going this year, and they had a pretty good showing.

Reggie Bush ran for 100 yards on 13 carries, scoring 1 TD

    (R) Le'Veon Bell ran for 23 yards on 6 carries.... He showed a lot of promise! Picking up several 1st Downs.

Calvin Johnson Jr. only had 3 receptions for 42 yards, and 1 TD (Lowest number's in years)

    DEFENSE

On Defense the Lions took a second to get going. They missed several tackles allowing AP to score easy TD's. However they hung in there and kept it close going into Halftime. Then really stepped it up after the Half. Forcing Fumbles and making the QB hurry was what they focused on in the 2nd half, and in the 4th QT with less than 3 min left and Lions only up by a Field Goal the Vikings were driving down the field. Ashlee Palmer stepped up big and knocked the ball out on the 8 yard line, saving the day!

    Other Stand outs

Stephen Tulloch 2 Tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 forced fumble

Chris Houston 1 Tackle, 1 Interception

    LIONS PLAYER OF THE GAME

OLB Ashlee Palmer 9 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 Interception, 2 forced fumbles

LIONS MOVE TO 2-0 ON THE SEASON

It wasn't the game the Lions were hoping for, but it worked! The Cardinals played a very well solid game! However it was the Lions who came out on top. They played the over all keep away game they could have. On Offense, Reggie Bush lit it up on the ground, and not having any turnovers. However on Defense that was not the story, defense came out ahead forcing 4 turnovers.

"Even though the game was a lot closer than we would have liked, I still love what my guys did!" Owner Heath Howard stated Sunday after the Win. "The Cardinals are a very talented football team. They are very sound, and disciplined" Howard added.

Cardinals had a great game and have nothing to be ashamed of. Vick had a hell of a game throwing for over 300 + yards.

Beastmode also was hard to stop he had a Big Game, breaking several big runs! But it was not enough to take over the Lions. They were able to hang on for the win sending the Cards to a 0-2 record in a very tough division.

Great Game man, unfortunately i was not able to stop you at all. If u face a team and u cant get any turnovers and force 0 punts there is no way u have a chance to win the game. That pick in the end zone i threw, plus the pressing the wrong bottom that resulted in another pick did me in.

Overall, great offensive game called by you and Bush destroyed my defense. I need to hit the lab and learn how to play defense cuz right now i suck.

GL the rest of the way

You to bro! Ya, I caught some breaks for sure. That endzone pick was huge! But you were a Great opponent! I had a very hard time deciding whether to try and stop the run or protect against the pass. I just got lucky you hit the wrong receiver, and didn't see the guy in the endzone.

Good luck to you the rest of the way as well!
