Well the season is upon us. It's finally here! Lions fans are so excited for this season. New Owner Heath Howard believes this team has what it takes to contend. "I think we can push for the division, I feel we are a few pieces away from the team I'd like to have, but very happy with what we've got!" Howard stated this morning. After Free Agent Waiver Claims the Lions picked up 3 very exciting players: The Lions were able to pick up Rookie HB Le'Veon Bell. Bell was cut by the Steelers, which excited Mr. Howard. Howard knows what he is getting with Bell. "He's big, physical, and has very good agility to make plays happen. Very good change of pace from Bush" "He dominated UGA in the 2nd half of the Outback bowl a couple of years ago. We're glad to have him!" Lions also picked up LOLB Quincy Black. Sources say Black will be used a specialist in the passing game, but will be very handy if one of the starters were to get hurt. "We love his speed, and coverage skills!" Howard said. "Trust me he will be helping our front 4 get to the quarterback!" and the 3rd pick up was defensive back, 2nd yr player Nieko Thorpe. Thorpe was cut by the Chiefs who are loaded at the position and need to make room for other players. Another depth chart casualty that falls to Mr Howard. Thorpe was signed because of his size and physical ability. "He's a hard hitting CB, he's physical at the line of scrimmage and I love that hes 6 feet tall with speed to boot!" Howard said. "I watched him progress at the University of Auburn and he turned int a good Cornerback, all he needs is a little coaching and skills training and he could blossom into a #2 Corner for us very easily" Howard added. Lions feel good going forward, and are looking forward to their week 1 match-up with Division Rival Minnesota Vikings. RESTORE THE ROAR!
