The Maryland Terps
Terps Upset Cal
Maryland went into the game as a heavy underdog, but after the first quarter it was obvious that the Terps had came to play. The Terps lead 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 38- 15 at the half. The second team played most of the 3rd and all of the 4th quater, to finish with a comfortable 48-28 victory.
The Terps were lead by HB D.Scott 18 carries for 76 yds and 2 TDs. Back-up HB D. Meggett added 48 yds on 13 carries.
The Terps finish the game with 328 yards total offense, to Cal's 377 yards. The difference being Cal's 3 turnovers to Maryland's 1.
Louisana Tech cam to town for Maryland's home opener, and except for a bonehead CPU playcall, they would have spoiled the start of the Home season for the Terps. The game was even in all aspects until with 1:40 to go LTU took the lead with an 18 yard run by W.Griffin. Up 16-15 , LTU decided to go for 2 which failed. The Terps had one more chance, and since they hadn't scored an offensive touchdown the whole game, the fans started piling out of the stadium. Two plays later, the Terps Defense was back on the field after an interception on the second play of the driWith 3 timeouts, it was possible to get the ball back but the D would have to come up big. They did! 3 straight running plays and 3 straight timeouts left LTU with 4 and 4 on the Maryland 40 yard line with 42 sec remaining. Then the LTU coach decided to go for it. WHY? A failed screen play wass the result. Sacked!
With no timeouts and only 30 some seconds to go the Terp O took the field. After 2 successful passing plays and a really hurried spike. 00:03 is what remained in the game. Bring on N. Ferrara to attempt the 34 yard FG. Good!!!!!!! Coach lilmaggie said" we should have lost, if we play like this in the ACC, we won't win a game".
BEAT RUTGERS 28-21
Maryland escaped defeat by a miricle last second 64 yd TD pass in their showdown with Rutgers. Maryland looked typical and slugish for most of the game. But with only seconds to play and no timeouts, a streaking Maryland WR put the game in the win column. Maryland however loses their starting HB D. Scott for 4 weeks so an already pathetic running game looks to get even more pathetic. Week 5 will bring Clemson, and coach lilmaggie is expecting his defense to come up big "cause I know our offense sucks bad".

MArland defeats Clemson
Terps WIN Again!!!!!!
What a game! This game was dead even from the kickoff to the last play of the game. The Terps got on the board first on their first drive when FB C. Jackson busted through the middle for a 4 yard TD run. Then the Defense was ON. For both teams. Punt after punt, an occasional first down and then a punt. Maryland did manage to pick off Clemson QB W. Korn 3 times but could never really capitalize on the turnovers. With Maryland up 7-0 going into the 4th quarter, Clemson busted loose. An 80 yard TD pass from Korn to J. Ford, who broke a tackle and scampered all the way in, tied the game at 7. After a costly Clemson turnover, HB D. Meggett ran 4 tards to put the Terps back out in front with 2:32 remaining. On the next posession, Clemson was faced with a 4th and 17 from their 30. They converted with a long pass out in the flats, stopping the clock. On the next play, Korn hit a streaking C. Spiller for a 46 yard TD pass to tie the game up. Maryland had 1:36 TO GET IN fg RANGE. They did, and called their last timeout with 4 seconds remaining, N. Ferrara came on after Clemson ICED him and squeaked it past the left upright for the game winner. 17-14.
How do you do it? Seems like you've got the best clutch kicker in the game. Way to pull through in those close ones!
Just for clarification, I post my take on the game...
Although the score was close, MD dominated. The Clemson offense was paralyzed from the opening drive. Without 2 desperation deep passes, Clemson would have lost by at least 2 scores. The outcome was even worse considering Maryland was without its star RB. Whats next for Clemson? A bye week and 2 grueling weeks of practice.
Maryland outlasted a stubborn Wolfpack team and came away with a 17-7 victory. Maryland wins again to go to 8-0 and a #4 National ranking. As usual it wasn't pretty, but the it still counts. The Maryland Defense did not give up a point, as NCST's only score would come on a fumble return for a touchdown. The Terp offense struggled as is the norm but with the defense dominating, things seem to work out in the end. Coach lilmaggie said " I am looking foward to our game with VT, I hope they are still undefeated. I guarantee you that they won't score 40 on this defense. Whether our offense can produce enough to keep us in the game, I don't know, but our defense will come to play". Maryland leads the ACC in rush defense while the Hokies are leading the conference in rushing. Should be a good one.
The Maryland Terps
Well, it really didn't live up to the billing, as Maryland lost big to the Hokies last night in a snowstorm. Maryland played the first half just as they wanted, shutting down Hokie QB Taylor and making him throw instead of run. The Terps trailed 7-3 at the half. It was a 17-10 Hokie lead at the end of the 3rd, then the wheels fell off for Maryland and the Hokies put 21 unanswed on the board in the final quarter. 4 turnovers was the difference maker. The Hokies had zero. " We did what we thought we had to, make Taylor throw the ball, we just didn't expect him to be that good at it" coach lilmaggie said after the game. "We had our chance, but we fell apart in the 4th. But now we have an even bigger game to get ready for. Florida State is what we have to think about now". The Terps National Title hopes were obliterated by the loss but they still control their own destiny in the hunt for the ACC Championship. If they can get a win against FSU, they can redeem themselves in a rematch with VT for the Championship
First game in the snow for me.....played a great game despite the mismatch. That 4th quarter was something with those turnovers one after the other. Good luck to you against FSU and looking foward to a possible rematch.
Terps defeat Bama
Maryland put a whipping on the SEC boys from Alabama Saturday. Everything went the Terps way and they shutdown the Tide to the tune of a 38-7 final. the Terps were led by their QB J. Robinson who was 20-25 for 253 yards and 1 TD. The game was never really that close as the Terps went up 14-0 in the 1st quarter, and led 24-7 at the half. " Our defense was dominate today and our offense made enough plays to keep Alabama off balance for the game. We never let up, maybe now we can get some respect in the polls" .

Word has it the Clemson coach has your trip to Death Valley circled on his calendar...
Maryland is playing really well. We have switched defenses and it is really improved our game. We had a top 10 defense last season and are much improved this season. We are ready for our ACC schedule. I think the Hokies are still the team to beat, but I don't know alot about UNC or FSU. Should be a hard fought season.
Terps Thrash WolfPack
It was never really close and the Terps played the second unit for much of the second half but come away with a conference win 58-14 against NCST. The game was tied 7-7 when NCS decided to start turning the ball over about every other play. The Terps took advantage and rolloed up the points. Th game was played in the slop, and both #1 and #2 HBgot injured, only for the game though. But it didn't make much difference.
