    OHIO STATE VS AKRON

A nice way for the Buckeyes to open the season. They started to work out some elements of their new offense. It had mixed success in the first half but really picked up well in the second half. Thanks to Jaamal Berry's 182 yards on the ground and Pryor's 65 on the ground and 100 through the air OSU makes an easy win out of this one 50-16 being your final score.

While Berry and Pryor both played well the player of the game was without a doubt return man Laamar Thomas. He had 141 yards on kickoff returns including a TD and 89 yards on punt returns including a TD. A fantastic individual performance for him.

Well I went back to get the stats for the game but I see it had to get simmed again with a new outcome. Don't remember from the stats from when I actually played it. Nevertheless, Buckeyes improve to 2-0. Next up Southern Miss.

This game was all Buckeyes. USM was able to get some points in the first half off of unfortunate Buckeye turnovers but the rest of the first half was all OSU. The second half was more of the same except OSU really called off the dogs. The Buckeyes probably scored 100 points in this game if they really wanted to. We ran the ball in the second half to just control the clock and USM got some BS TD's in garbage time to make it a final score of OSU-63 USM-28. Terrelle Pryor was the player of the game going 8-10 for 200 yards and 2 TD's. Jamaal Berry had a great game as well 23 carries 178 yards 3 TD's. Laamar Thomas had 4 receptions for 153 yards and a TD. Ohio State improves to 3-0 and prepares to square off against #3 Miami on their home turf.

This was a great game between two evenly matched teams. This was a clash of two very talented teams on a mission to prove their position among the elite. The game started out rough for The Buckeyes as Miami was able to drive straight down the field and score a TD in the first 90 seconds. The hostile Hurricane crowd was ruthless, but little did they know, it would be their last. With a few quick scheme changes on the sideline it quickly became a different game. The OSU D was stuffing the UM offense throughout the 1st but it took until the second before the OSU offense hit their stride. With a rushing TD by the FB Martin and then with 3 seconds left in the half a FG by Willis. OSU's offense continue to move the ball and control the clock in the third and WR Jackson scored on an 18 yard TD pass from Pryor as the Miami D stacked the box for the run. The Buckeye offense put one more TD on the board with a 10 yard pass to backup RB Carlos Hyde for a TD in the fourth. The OSU D continue to make key stops in the second half. Putting great pressure on the Jacory Harris and causing sacks and INT's, including the one that sealed the deal in the fourth, a 56 yard pick six by FS Orhian Johnson.

    FINAL SCORE: OSU-31 UM-7

Player of the Game: Terrelle Pryor 19-24 234 yards passing with 2 TD's, 8 carries for 37 yards rushing

    Next game vs Indiana (2-1)

Great job man, you really shut us down after that first drive and kicked our ass in the 2nd half. Good luck the rest of the way, you got a great team.

    Ohio State vs Indiana

Indiana started out strong scoring a touchdown after about a 2 and a half minute drive down the field. OSU came out ready to respond and drove down the field and capped the drive with a 9 yard TD run by Berry. The Buckeyes added to more TD's in the second quarter off of a 4 yard run by Pryor and a 1 yard run by Berry. The halftime score was 21-7. More of the same in the second half as Jaamal Berry added two more TD's in the third, of 6 and 3 yards. It was all Berry in the 4th quarter as OSU runs their clock control offense. Berry scores 2 MORE TD's, one of 3 yards and the big knife in the heart, the 56 yard run.

    FINAL SCORE: OSU-49 IU-7

    Ohio State improves to 5-0.

Player of the Game: Jaamal Berry 21 carries 165 yards and a new school record 6 rushing TD's.

Game notes: OSU had 503 yards of total offense. Pryor had 232 yards passing.

    Next game at Northwestern (1-1)

    #3 Ohio State destroys Northwestern

The Bucks continue their path of destruction. In a game where The Bucks never trailed and their was never any doubt in the outcome of this game, it helped OSU learn some more about their defense that will help them throughout the rest of their grueling schedule. Sans a few big plays Northwestern was hardly capable of moving the ball. NU finished with only 18 yards on the ground and 232 overall. The Bucks on the other hand finished with 550 yards of total offense.

    FINAL SCORE: OSU-52 NU-6

Player of the Game: Jamaal Berry 25 carries 237 yards and 3 TD's

Notes: Pryor was 12-18 260 yards passing and 3 TD's. James Jackson 3 receptions 112 yards. DE Fellows had 4 sacks.

OSU has a much deserved Bye week next week.

    Ohio State at Wisconsin

The Buckeye offense started out slow under the eyes of a hostile crowd in Madison and Wisconsin led the game at the end of the first 7-0 as a result of a good drive capped off with a 1 yard score from Badger RB Erik Smith. The Buck O woke up in the 2nd and tacked on 24 points scoring on a 56 run by Pryor, a pick six by Jamie Wood, a 13 yard reception by Taurian Washington, and a 28 yard FG by Willis. The second half was all OSU outscoring the Badgers 31-13. The Badgers actually had a very good gameplan and moved the ball fairly well against OSU. But it wasn't enough and they couldn't contain the Buck offense even after putting Jamaal Berry out of the game with an injury. That only lit the fire under this team and inspired Pryor to carry the team on his shoulders.

    FINAL SCORE: OSU-55 Wisc.-27

Player of the Game: Terrelle Pryor 23-26 300 yards and 5 TD, 8 rushes 112 yards and a TD.

Next game vs #1 Penn State

    A Heartbreaker in Columbus

In the much anticipated showdown between #1 Penn State and #3 Ohio St. it turned out to be a great defensive battle. Not too many highlights to note on either side. Penn State was able to shut down The Buckeye run game and force Terrelle Pryor to attempt to win the game with his arm. Pryor did an admirable job trying but the lack of production in the redzone (2 visits, 1 FG) made a HUGE difference in the outcome of this game. With only 362 total yards of offense combined for both teams this game came down to field position and execution and The Nittany Lions were a little better this go around.

    FINAL SCORE: PSU-17 OSU-10

Player of the Game: Marcus Fellows 6 tackles (3 for loss), 3 sacks

    Next game at Minnesota

Buckeyes top Minnesota in a Shootout

Defensive gurus shield your eyes on this one. This game basically turned out to be which defense could get beat the least amount of times. Jaamal Berry was outstanding the whole game. Completely unstoppable. Terrelle Pryor passed and ran just enough to keep the defense off balance and keep the chains moving. Lamar Thomas had a 97 yard kickoff return for a TD to go along with his 6 receptions for 97 yards and 2 TD's. Marcus Fellows continued to terrorize opposing QB's adding 4 more sacks in this game.

    FINAL SCORE: OSU-70 MINN-44

Player of the Game: Jaamal Berry 23 carries 341 yards 6 TD's

    Notes: Offensive yardage: OSU-560 MINN-456

Ohio State tops Notre Dame in South Bend

It was another classic battles between two evenly matched teams. The real story of the day was OSU's big play defense. They made three key interceptions to end Notre Dame's key drives. Even though The Buckeye D struggled to really find an answer to Heisman contender TE Kyle Rudolph they were able to make enough stops to come away with the victory. Jaamal Berry had another solid game with 20 carries for 118 yards and a TD. FB Martin had a great game lead blocking for Berry but his big moment was in when he took a pass in the flats 80 yards for a TD. Marcus Fellows added one sack to his season total and Lamaar Thomas had 71 receiving yards on 4 catches. This was a big conference win for Ohio State to continue their momentum and attempt to get back in the title hunt.

Player of the Game: Terrelle Pryor 10-19 207 yards and 2 TD's

In a game that wasn't nearly as lopsided as the score, The Buckeyes get another Big 10 win. Illinois really played well and drove the ball well in quite a bit of this game. No matter how much OSU scored Illinois answered most of the first half. The game was 27-17 at the half. Then The Buckeyes came out of the tunnel at the half like a pissed off swarm of killer bees and scored 28 points in the 3rd quarter. That pretty much put the game out of reach as The Illini tried to play catch up in the 4th. There wasn't much passing on the OSU side as Pryor was just 7-9 for 157 yards and 2 TD's but he had 132 yards rushing because The Illini D keyed on RB Jaamal Berry all game and held him to just 73 yards on 19 carries. Ohio State is glad to retain The Illibuck trophy and get this one behind them as they head into next week's showdown with Michigan. Ohio State improves to 10-1(6-1).
