    Oregon Ducks '16
    Season 2

The Ducks look to rebound after, by all accounts within in the program, the 2015 campaign was a let down. After starting 3-0 against users, the Ducks dropped two straight home contests to their biggest CL rivals in Ohio State and Notre Dame. While the team progressed nicely on offense, the defense has taken quite a sizeable step back in season 2.

    OFFENSE
Highly touted RS Freshman QB Travis Jonsen will take the helm this season and look to do big things in an offense built for him to step in and succeed. All halfbacks return a year older and a year stronger; Royce Freeman looks to duplicate a solid Sophomore season, but hopes to finish much more consistently than he did last year.

    DEFENSE
A year ago, the strength of the Oregon defense resided in the trenches, as the defensive line picked up the slack from a young secondary. The case is the opposite this year, as the strength of the "Goon Squad" now resides with the little guys outside. Only 2 seniors look to get quality playing time this season, and the success of the year resides on a very youthful defense.

Not sure if being a "goon squad" is a good thing for the defense?

    • Travis Jonsen was impressive, both passing and running. He had a couple very nice scrambles, including one for 24 yards.
    • Freeman was very pedestrian
    • The defense tackled poorly and gave up too many big plays
    • Dropped INT's plagued the secondary
    • OJ Gould had the run of the game (jet sweep, stiff-arm-punched a linebacker at the line of scrimmage and took it 30+ yards to the house on the FIRST touch of his career; impressive player and was fun to play with)

    • Freeman started slow but came on late in the game
    • Travis Jonsen was intercepted twice attempting to go deep; Short routes and check downs were successful
    • Need to include more Play Action
    • 8 different players caught a pass
    • True freshman Jermaine Sowell led the team with 9 tackles and a sack; very impressive performance from the youngster
    • Dropped INT's once again plagued the secondary
