Maybe this will get us talking around here! Figured it would be cool for all of us to input who we think our Madden team's will take in next Thursday's draft. We should be able to get thru it by then (I would hope!). If we stall out at any point I guess we can figure that out when we approach it. If people are being active here on TSO and in the forums though, it shouldn't come to that right?!? Just to help us along, after your pick please TAG the person who is next up to pick! No trades involved, that will only complicate the process! This is all in fun and just to get us talking around here. So if saintsdave75 thinks the Texans should take Bishop Sankey with the first overall pick, no need to give him BS about it. Lol. A brief explanation of why you picked the player you did in that position is always great too! That is all, let's get it started! (I'll try and keep up as much as possible and update the picks as soon as they come in) With that, the Houston Texans are now on the clock! 1) Houston Texans - saintsdave75 - QB Johnny Manziel / Texas A&M 2) St. Louis Rams - HogeB33 - WR Sammy Watkins / Clemson 3) Jacksonville Jaguars - CHUNKNESS - QB Blake Bortles / UCF 4) Cleveland Browns - dablakpope - DE Jadaveon Clowney / South Carolina 5) Oakland Raiders - Glen Cieske - WR Mike Evans / Texas A&M 6) Atlanta Falcons - MrWitness36 - OT Jake Matthews / Texas A&M 7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - ThaBayouChef - OLB Khalil Mack / Buffalo 8) Brooklyn Vikings - DarkKnight89 - ILB C.J. Texans select QB- Johnny Manziel- Texas A&M Johnny Football would immediately step in to be the top franchise QB the Texans ever had and would be fun to play with in Madden also
Good choice! I think I would've done the same! Does HogeB33 go with a DE to play opposite Robert Quinn, or will he take the top WR available to help free up Tavon?!
With the 2nd pick in the NFL Draft the St Louis Rams select........... Sammy Watkins out of Clemson. The speed and size of Watkins make him an instant starting WR on the Rams and a guy that will make an immediate impact in the NFL aka QSF.
Tavon and Watkins would be nasty together. Rams definitely wouldn't last long in a team draft with that duo! CHUNKNESS So many needs for the Jags, do they take 'another' franchise QB here??
With Sammy Watkins off the board, I would be looking for a trade because I know teams want Clowney but since no trades are allowed With 4th pick, the Browns pick Jadeveon Clowney!
With Bortles gone, the Raiders would look to upgrade their WRs with....... Mike Evans - Texas A&M MrWitness36
OT Jake Matthews, Falcons, who desperately need to give Matt Ryan better protection. The Falcons allowed 44 sacks last year – 10th most in the NFL. Before last year, Ryan hadn’t been sacked more than 28 times in his career. Matthews has good football DNA. His dad, Bruce, was a Hall of Fame offensive guard. Jeremy
Good stuff fellas! Like the reasoning MrWitness36 !! That Falcons line was attrocious last year, can't say I didn't like seeing it though.
Paging Jeremy ... Bucs up!! ETA: I'm pretty familiar with the Bucs situation so if no pick is in by 10 am/et, I'll make their pick. I would let a true Bucs fan make it, but I'm not sure we have any here? Or anywhere for that matter.
Listening to sports radio down here in the Bay, I know the Bucs could go in a lot of directions here. They need a QB, but given Manziel (who would probably be the only 1st round QB on their radar) is gone, I don't see them taking Bridgewater or Carr here. Mike Evans and Jake Matthews are probably ranked 2-3 on their big board, so they may be disappointed that they come off the board right before their pick. The only other player I could see them considering is OT Taylor Lewan, but he's not the "sexy pick" the new regime wants/needs. With that, they take somebody who may end up being the best player/talent in this draft; and add another impactful defensive player at the 2nd level to pair with stud Levonte David. With the 7th pick in the draft the Bucs select: OLB Khalil Mack Buffalo DarkKnight89 ... Vikes up bruh!
Well I'm a firm believer in best player available but I know a cornerstone on defense when i see one. Having lost Navaro Bowman and Brandon Spikes i know what a good MLB can do but i also know what an aging line can do. So in a draft deep at O-Line with the 8th Overall pick the Vikings select C.J. Mosley MLB from Alabama
Nice pick! I know more than a few Saints fans who are hoping he drops to us at 27. Michael Overman ... who you got?!
Just got to lunch...will post when I get back with my reasoning and result (circa 1.5 hours) Nice Pick DarkKnight89 and again great job putting this together ThaBayouChef
The Buffalo Bills / Sentinels with the 9th pick in the NFL Draft select out of The University of Michigan Offensive Line Man Taylor Lewan http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/taylor-lewan?id=2543467 They Bills decide they can't miss on a first round pick this year...and take a 4 year starter and stud to protect manuel and spiller... He will be able to produce on the NFL field right away. chance17 on the clock
I'm sure there are some Packer fans (or just me idk) that would be happy with him replacing Brad Jones
Good pick Michael Overman ... I don't see them going anywhere but OL with this pick. They desperately need help to protect EJ!
Yikes. Its hard to make this pick, but the Lions have a "best player available" tendency. Because of that... OT Greg Robinson, Auburn University He's great in the run game and Stafford spent too much time on his butt, so the OL can use an injection of talent. He probably would move to guard, but may also push for time at RT with some other players shifting positions. I don't see Robinson being available here IRL, so they will probably take the DT from Pitt or look to trade down or up. The draft is pretty deep at their supposed positions of need (DT, CB, S, TE). ThaBayouChef, you're on the clock.
The Titans were either going to go in one of two directions here, OT or DB. With the three top rated OT's already gone and off the board, this is an easy one for the Tennessee front office. With the departure of Alterraun Verner to Tampa Bay, the Tennessee Titans luck out, find a great young replacement, and select: DB - Justin Gilbert / Oklahoma St. cry_havoc You're picking for your G-Men here. Where you guys going??
Any other Giants fans here who would like to make their pick? Or someone who knows a little about what they may do?? If no pick is in by 10AM/et, someone else will have to make the pick....Any volunteers?
