pittrocks43 isn't really a day forum board guy. I'll just go ahead and knock his pick out when the Saints come up. .... Unless he shows up of course!
In this scenario, I would have hoped the Saints front office were smart enough to jump up and grab either DB Dennard or OLB Barr. Given this is the Q's draft though, I'm stuck here at 27 with a handful of players that are absolute worst case scenario players for me. I don't like Ealy, don't like Verrett, don't like Latimer, don't like Moses, etc., etc. If we hadn't traded up for a player already picked, I would hope that we would trade back and try to pick up one of these players in the early 2nd plus acquire another pick. But, we can't trade in this mock so all this out the window. So, I'm going with a guy I absolutely love and that we may target at some point in the 2nd round. He's not as talked about as a Sammy Watkins, or Odell Beckham, but the guy is a 4 year senior who absolutely balled out on a team that never had a legit QB and played against tough secondaries week in and week out in the SEC. With the 27th pick, the New Orleans Saints select: WR Jordan Matthews - Vanderbilt Matthews fits the mold of WR's that Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton love to work with. He's a younger, better version of a Marques Colston, and with Colston only getting older; Matthews would fit perfectly in this offense.
Needing a WR in the worst way, the Panthers pull the trigger on Cody Latimer out of Indiana. Latimer possesses great speed and height at 6'3 and should help the Panthers passing game immediately. Sorry no pick, walking out the door for work lol
Glen Cieske ... aren't you a 9ers fan? U want them?? I'll take Broncos, if no one else is around to do it...
The Patriots are on the clock and can go many ways. The Patriots select - Jeremiah Attaochu, LB/DE, Georgia Tech Will only be a 21-year-old rookie when the season starts in September. Plenty of potential and already a pretty solid foundation.
The Broncos could go with three different positions here; OG, DB, or LB. They brought in Aqib Talib to help their secondary, but also lost Champ Bailey and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They desperately need someone to play opposite him. At guard they lost Zane Beadles, and at LB the lost Wesley Woodyard. Two good guards still remain on the board, but you can't go into a season with just 1 legitimate starting DB on your roster, can you?! With that, the Denver Broncos select: DB Jason Verrett - TCU
Thanks to everyone who participated! It was fun! MrWitness36 and CHUNKNESS were the only two to correctly pick! For doing so, you each get a giant E-cookie! Enjoy! What does everyone think about their team's draft?? I absolutely love the Saints pick! Jumped up from 27 to 20 to select WR Brandin Cooks, who adds another explosive dynamic to our offense. He's the fastest WR in the draft, and knows how to make people miss. He's basically a younger Darren Sproles who plays WR. Only had to give up our 3rd rounder to get him, and kept our 2nd. So I'm pretty happy so far, hopefully we go OL or DB in the 2nd.
Our mock draft looked a hell of a lot different because of some picks at the top and the real draft seeing a defensive focus. Everyone started grabbing up DBs and D-linemen. This year there were only a couple of picks that I was surprised by. Lions picking Ebron after resigning Pettigrew and talking about Sefarian-Jenkins in a later round surprised me. I really thought they would go Aaron Donald.
I liked that pick for the Lions. Pettigrew is trash, and Ebron gives Stafford another option. That offense could be really explosive next year. They HAVE to go DB in the 2nd round I would think, but I liked the risky Ebron pick.
He is physically a freak (video here). He had more "concentration drops" than some scouts want to see with him being drafted this high, but from what I read only had multiple drops like this in one game. You can't judge these picks this early, but I'm sure he'll be great in their system. Just thought they would shore up the DL and pick up Donald in the first, but they know a hell of a lot more about it than we do. Who does Houston take now with the Vikes taking Bridgewater at the end of the first? Trade down and get more picks? Take a QB with the last name Carr again and feel the wrath of the fans? What do you guys think?
