The Scarlet Knights looked very impressive in their season opener against Army. They outgained Army 519yds-226yds. Rutgers was led by the arm of Tom Savage who threw for 414yds 5 TD. Mohamed Sanu was Savage's target of choice with 8 rec 132yds 1 TD. The defense did give up some big plays but most of Army's offensiive production came in teh second half against the 2nd team. If Rutgers can stay healthy, expect them to be a darkhorse this year.

The Rutgers D was able to hold the option offense of Vandy to 56yds rushing and make them beat the Knights in the air. Vandy's offense was force to be 1 demisional in the second half and struggled to find a rythm going 2/12 on 3rd downs. A late pick 6 put Rutgers up 35-10 as they hold on to a 42-25 victory. The pass happy offense of Rutgers was inconsistent at times, but Tom Savage played mistake free as he threw for 214yds 1 TD. The super soph WR Mohamed Sanu was injured in the first quarter and will miss 10 weeks. Stroud and Wright stepped up as they combined for 10 rec 166yds 1 TD. The Rutgers running game helped a balance attack as Maritinek ran for 150yds 2 TD. Rutgers looks to make a run without their star WR as they begin league play next week against West Virginia.

Rutgers took a big step foward in the Big East with a victory over WVU. Unable to replicate the success on the ground against Vandy, Tom Savage took over with an impressive game in the air 370yds 4TD. Up next for the Scarlet Knights is a big user contest against #18 Pitt. The winner would most likely take the Big East title.
