Patrick Peterson is now a Seattle Seahawk Big news out of Renton, WA, at the team headquarters for the Seattle Seahawks today. The team has officially announced that they have agreed to terms on a BLOCKBUSTER trade with their NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals. The trade will send a couple of fan favorites to the desert; as 2011 Pro Bowl cornerback Brandon Browner and 2012 All Pro & Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch pack their bags. In return, the Seahawks welcome 3rd year cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is already a two time Pro Bowler and was an All Pro as a rookie. There had been rumors of the team shopping Lynch, affectionately known by fans as "Beast Mode" for his hard nosed running style, throughout the off-season, but they were thought to be nothing more than just hyperbole. Those rumors came true earlier today as the Seahawks made their shocking announcement. While the Seattle faithful will certainly be sad to see Lynch and Browner go, any true fan can't help but be excited about the special player they got in return. WOW, WHAT A PAIR! The addition of Peterson, who will now line up opposite All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, gives the Seahawks one of the most dynamic young cornerback duos in the league. While Peterson isn't quite the polished defender that Sherman is, yet anyways, he is already considered to be a shutdown corner who has great hands and elite speed that allows him to hang with any receiver. Peterson is also already considered one of the best returners in the league, and can be expected to step right into that role in Seattle as well. GOODBYE TO THE "BEAST" While the Seahawks hate to see Lynch go, and definitely don't look forward to seeing him twice a year, they felt that this was a deal they had to make. Not only do they get one of the most dynamic young playmakers (on defense and special teams) in the league, they also take that player away from a division rival. They felt that the drop-off in going from from Lynch to Robert Turbin, while significant, was acceptable enough to justify this deal. It is an exciting day for the "12th Man" fan base of the Seahawks, as this could very well be the start of a new era for the Seattle defense!
Absolutely bizarre trade...i cant believe Miki gave up Peterson. Props to Jim on legit having the best secondary EVER in Madden.
Was wondering why Lafell and Smitty were shut down all game. Now I understand. It was a really good game. I hope to have a playoff rematch, but I have to get there first.
