Despite Loss UNC Keeps Their Head High
Great goaline stand in the first overtime gets Michigan the much needed victory in the first overtime in Chapel Hill. However the tarheels have their heads high after a hard fought victory. Bernard was the horse in this game getting 30 rushed and a total of 161 yards. Renner had a decent game minus the two interceptions with 2 touchdowns and 312 passing yards. Without the 17 points and stellar play of Renner in the fourth quarter this game would of never of made it into overtime. They could not overcome the stellar play of Denard RObinson who had two passing touchdowand and another rushing touchdown on a 4th and short in the second quarter! The Tarheels will keep their heads up and look forward to beating down their in state rival the Wake Forest Demon Deacons!

Tarheels Win Their First Game of the Season
    gb_getty_1_t620.jpg
Tarheels win their first game of the season in convincing fashion against in state rival Wake forest. Coming off an impressive showing against Michigan the Tarheels showed why they are not be taken lightly in the ACC or against any upcoming rival. The star of the game was phenom running back Giovani Bernard who had 29 rushes for 167 yard and 3 touchdowns. He also contributed two catches for 32 yards. Renner had a quite game with only 6 completions but had 149 yards and 1 passing td along with a rushing TD wish came off a option. On defense we had cornerback Tim Scott with 2 interceptions, and also Terry Shankle had interceptions as well. Star MLB Kevin Reddick had two sacks along with 7 tackles. Cornerback Jabri Price also had 2 sacks along with 4 tackles. The passing defense of the Tarheels was not very impressive and will need to improve. The rushing defense was very impressive! Next week the Georgia Bulldogs will take the drive down Interstate 85 into North Carolina and visit the Tarheels in Chapel Hill!

Another Hard Fought Loss For the UNC Tarheels
Great Game Coach_III.. Another great game against a high ranked opponent for the Tarheels and yet so familiar results in another tough loss! Renner had a decent game with 3 tds and 0 interceptions but only had a 54% completion and had 6 sacks. Bernard did not have a great game averaging only 4.2 yards on 20 attempts and 0 tds. The third quarter is where UGA won the game with 2 early scores in the third which the tarheels could not come back from! Next week the Tarheels will go to Louisville to play against the Cardinals!! stat1.png stat2.png

    A Much-Needed Win
    421A0001_5_GR_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_GRY.jpg
The UNC Tarheels are able to walk away from Louisville, Kentucky with their second win of the season. Renner had a good and bad game with 4 interceptions, a fumble, but also had four tds with Renner. However, the player of the game was Giovani Bernard who had a hard time staying on the field with a bruised shoulder and also back spasms. He had 2 receptions for 42 yards and a received touchdown from a 38 yard bomb from Renner. He also had 8 rushes for 134 yards. He had a 74 yard rush TD where he broke a tackle when he was meant to go to the outside, after the broke tackle he went to the inside and out ran the Lousiville defense for the touchdown. The Tarheels have a much needed by week next week before taking on the Virgina Tech Hokies.

Riots Occur in Chapel Hill After Game
Chapel Hill- An ugly game from the UNC Tarheels results in riots and violence in Chapel Hill. Coach Taylor had no explanation for the awful game from your Tarheels. Star players HB Giovani Bernard and QB Bryn Renner both had quite games. Both guys had a rushing TD with Renners coming from an option which he kept the ball. The Tarheel defense had no answer for the outstanding Virgina Tech offense. The UNC defense had two interceptions and one resulting in a touchdown the VA Tech qb Thomas had four touchdown passes and another touchdown from a touchdown run! Next week the North Carolina Tarheels take the trip down interstate 95 south to Miami to take on the 4-1 Hurricanes!!

    Much Needed Win In Miami
Miami, Fl- An ugly performance on offense from both teams results in a much needed victory for the Tarheels. Renner got injured with a back injury in the 2nd quarter then Williams came in and did an okay job. He had 2 interceptions, a touchdown pass, and a touchdown run. Bernard had a quite game with 20 rushes for 89 yards. But he got the yard in the fourth quarter to keep the clock running. Miami had an early fumble that was returned for a touchdown that seemed to turn the tide of the game since they were driving the ball pretty easily! Next week the Tarheels will take the short drive down Tobacco Road to take on in state rival Duke Blue Devils. We all know about the hatred during basketball season, however there has been a lot of trash talk from Coach Taylor and other Tarheel players towards Duke! Will be interesting to see if this hatred translates to any on field altercations!!

    Tarheels Beat Blue Devils
    [IMG]
Durham, NC- A beautiful Saturday afternoon resulted in a much needed Tarheel victory. This victory gave the Tarheels a record over .500. The player of the game was Marquise Willaims who had a great day with 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and 312 yards! The Tarheels rushing game was stellar as well. Giovani Bernard had 127 yards on 24 carries and a rushing and receiving touchdown. AJ Blue had a great game as well with a rushing touchdown and 80 yards on 13 carries! A early turnover by Bernard on the option gave the Blue Devils an early fg but that was their only lead of the game. Next week the NC State Wolfpack come to Chapel Hill!

    Fourth Quarter Dooms the Tarheels
Chapel Hill, NC- A dominant game from UNC still results in a loss for the tarheels. Bernard got injured this game and will be out two weeks. Blue will be a solid replacement who had a great game last week against NC State with 2 tds. Williams also had a good game with 3 tds and only 1 interception with 310 yards. The defense was terrible in this game against the pass allowing over 500 yards passing. Rush defense was okay only allowing just over 100 yards.Next week the UNC Tarheels will travel down Interstate 40 west to Interstate 77 south and take on the USC Gamecocks at willaims brice stadium in Columbia South Carolina!!

Coach Taylor on the Hot Seat?
After another lackluster performance by the Tarheels fans are asking for coach Taylor to be fired. However, the players and the athletic standby their coach. With this loss it puts the Tarheels most likely out of a bowl game which does not matter since they are suspended for one year from a bowl following the NCAA investigation. Starting UNC QB had a solid game with 185 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions but got outplayed by Shaw who had 266 yards and 2 touchdowns. Blue had a good game as well with 88 yards and 1 touchdown. The UNC defense is the topic of conversation which gives everyone a right to be mad at coach. Next week the Georgia Tech yellow jackets come to town for an ACC showdown!

    Upset in Chapel Hill
    [IMG]
Chapel Hill, NC-The Tarheels manhandled the Yellow jackets in this game. Renner and Bernard were back this week for injuries and there was definite rust on their games. Renner had two rushing touchdowns on fourth and inches at the goal line. Their also was a failed fourth and inches early in the first quarter that was failed. Renner had 272 passing yards but had zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The only passing td was by williams when Renner was out with a minor injury. Bernard had a okay game with 79 yards and a rushing td, but he was not his normal self! This was a huge win for the Tarheels to get them back to .500. They also had a few recruits on campus visiting this week, and this win will help any recruiting efforts. This puts fan at a little east and helps keep coach Taylor off of the hot seat for now. This also helps UNC possibly get into an eventual bowl game, but most likely they will have to win their last two games of the season against Maryland and also travel and beat Virgina. Next week the Tarheels have to take on the Virgina Cavaliers in their stadium! Stats and game summary below

    Another Win for the Tarheels
    [IMG]
Charlottesville, Virginia- A much needed win in Virginia for the tarheels. This win puts the tarheels into a possible bowl game and they still have a chance to capture the ACC coastal title. They need some help from Virginia tech with having them lose to either Boston College or Virginia. The player of the game was running back Giovani Bernard with 141 yards rushing on 28 attempts. He also had 3 receptions for 80 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Blue had a solid day as well with 51 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns. The Tarheels finish up the season against the Maryland Terrapins.

    Convincing Win
    [IMG]
Chapel Hill, NC- A convincing win puts coach Taylor off of the hot seat after finishing off the season with three wins to give them a 7-5 record. The running back group as a core was the player of the game with 194 rushing yards. Renner had a okay first half but had three interceptions in the first. In the second half Renner had a good game with no interceptions. The defense was stellar today allowing only 216 yards in total offense with 2 turnovers. Now the Tarheels will wait and see if there conference record of 6-2 will get them the Coastall ACC title and play most likely FSU in the ACC title game. If not the Tarheels will see if they are heading to a bowl game this year.

    2013-2014 Season Preview

[IMG] [IMG] North Carolina Tarheels Football

    Overall: B+
    Offense: B+
    Defense: B
    Special Teams: C+

Offense: The main guy for the Tarheels will be start running back Giovani Bernard who is a 5'10" 206 pound running back with a 97 overall rating. Last year he was hit and miss with games. He would have a spectacular game and then have a lackluster key so consistency is a key with Bernard. Also him staying healthy is always a worry for the Tarheels since he seems to be a very injury prone player. Another big guy for the Tarheels is quarterback Bryn Renner who is a 6'3" and 215 lbs. Consistency is a key for Renner as well. He would throw a lot of interceptions in a game along with a few touchdown passes.

The wide receiving core is going to step up since Highsmith left for the NFL draft during the offseason. Their number one receiver will be TJ Thorpe who is 6'0" and 191 lbs. The number two receiver will be junior reggie wilkins and the third wide receiver will be the gem freshman Kevin Davis. They will have to find a solid tide end during preseason practice since no tight end wants to win the number one spot, but Aaron Baker has the inside track as of now.

The Tarheel Offensive line is the biggest concern of all fans. They let Renner get sacked a lot last year and did not give Bernard any holes to work with. The only solid linemen is center Russell Bodine at 6'4" and 307 pounds. The offensive line will need to play above expectations if they Tarheels want to go where they want to go!

Defense: The defense will run through senior free safety Tre Boston at 6'1" and 190 lbs. He will be patrolling the field like to other looking for the big hit or the interception. The defensive line will be a pretty good line this year with Martin and Jackson patrolling the ends with Underwood and Farmer patrolling the inside of the trenches.

Hughes and Lipford have a huge void to fill after star LB Reddick was a senior and went to the NFL draft. Both guys have potential to have a solid year and know they have the chance to be all americans after seeing how much Reddick brought to the team as a starter. The backs of the team have a big role to play with the biggest cornerbacks being Tim Scott and Terry Shankle. They will need to find a third cb during the offseason to play in the 4-2-5.

    Games to Watch:

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Prediction: Big things are expected from the Tarheels this year since Renner will be leaving and Bernard will most likely leave for the NFL draft
9-3 is the expected record for your Tarheels!!
