Last week, Clemson lost coach Dabo Sweeney. Clemson replaced him with defensive coordinator Nick Bonardi. This came as a surprise to Clemson fans, as Sweeney stepped down. Sweeney claimed he wanted to spend more time with his family, and his timing is even worse than Urban Meyer's in 2010. The Clemson AD promoted Bonardi to interim head coach, and he is expected to stay for next year. Bonardi is a defensive minded coach and Tiger fans believe he will exceed the expectations put on Dabo Sweeney. In his first game, Bonardi will take on Florida State for the ACC Atlantic crown.

Clemson is heading to the ACC Championship game with their wild victory over Florida State in Death Valley. Clemson looked pretty bad when they were down 14-7 in the 1st quarter but never game up. Although they turned the ball over 5 times (4 fumbles lost), compared to FSU’s two, somehow they figured out to win a game and shock powerhouse FSU. Clemson was up 24-21 at their own 1 in the 4th quarter, when they drove to midfield and yet again fumbled. A Florida State TD with 2:24 gave FSU the lead 28-24. Clemson was able to drive down the field and score with 6 seconds remaining to end the game. The thrilling finish leaves Clemson at 8-3, with South Carolina and the ACC Championship game remaining.

    Clemson Stats
Scott Morton (QB)- 21-29 for 319 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 11 rushes for 64 yards, 2 TD
Derrick McDonald (HB)- 12 rushes for 84 yards, 4 receptions for 39 yards
Tom Evans (WR)- 6 receptions for 73 yards, TD

Clemson was scared early by rival South Carolina, but pulled away late in the 2nd quarter and 2nd half. The biggest story of the game was Clemson QB Scott Morton, who threw for 266 yards and 3 TD and rushed for 26 yards. In the 3rd quarter, Morton was hit hard and is now out for the season. Redshirt Senior Clint Tate will be up to the task. Tate got injured in his 2nd possession which caused much fear for Tiger fans, but bounced back after a series.
After trailing 21-7, Clemson scored with just under 4 minutes in the half and was able to take a 24-21 halftime lead behind Morton who threw for over 200 yards in the half. Clemson never looked back and outscored USC 24-0 in the 2nd half.

    Pregame Interview: Miami

How have you prepared for this week's game?

Well, we’ve had to prepare a little differently this week. We have a new QB, but I done expect there to be much a difference. We’re still going to pass a lot, and our HB McDonald is going to get some carries. We’ve scouted Miami pretty heavily. Their defense is great, but I think we can pass effectively. They are week at QB so we’ll definitely pack the box. Their addition of their running back back from injury will be a game changer. I’ve also noticed they’re a first half team, so hopefully we can hand with them in the 1st.

Do you anticipate it to be a close game?

Definitely. Can’t see why we can’t match up with them. We’re not favored. But I know my Clemson team can match up with anyone. That being said, UM’s a really good team.

What do you anticipate to be the biggest challenge in the game?

Miami’s defense is great, but I know if we stop their run, we will win this game.

What are you looking forward to most?

I’m just ready for the game. We’ve scouted, worked hard, practiced just to make it here. Now it’s time to go to the Orange Bowl

    Any other comments?

I expect to see a good game, and good luck to UM.

Following a few Clemson and some long UM passes, Clemson found themselves way behind down 21-0 with 3:49 in the 2nd quarter. Clemson played with Miami pretty well, but wasn’t able to capitalize a red zone opportunity and threw an INT on the one.
Clemson then scored on their 1st possession after being down 21-0 and after getting the ball back with little time, QB C. Tate made the play of the game from his own 47. Tate dropped back, looking for a completion to get into field goal range and had nobody open. Tate then dodged a D-Lineman, scrambled left, dodged two defensive backs, and ran into the end zone making it 21-14 with 15 seconds left.
Clemson came out to play in the 3rd, dominating offense and defense, and took a 35-21 lead. When Miami was desperate, their passing game was impossible to stop and a TD with 7:18 brought it within 7. After a few punts, Clemson chewed some clock and kicked a field goal, effectively ending the game. UM scored with one second to bring the game within two points.
Clemson is now headed to the Orange Bowl, and a likely opponent would be the Michigan Wolverines.

I am amazed I actually won this game. I had turnovers, terrible defense, injuries to my starting QB, HB, and top WR, yet still managed to come from behind

Clemson had a great comeback victory in the ACC Championship game vs. Miami, but this comeback against UF topped it, the most exciting game of the season.

At halftime, Clemson was losing 28-6, and their QB Clint Tate was pulled out for the game after throwing 3 picks. Keep in mind the old starter Melton was out for the season. Next Cole Stewart came in and played pretty well, but he had an injury and 4th stringer, Jonathan Jordan stepped up for 193 yards, but struggled in the 4th quarter because he was tired. 5th string Sean Anderson capped the comeback and won the game in OT. Also star HB McDonald and star WR Burley got injured and were out for the game. Good thing we don’t play next week.

A UF field goal gave them the lead 38-21 with 6:00 remaining. Coach JasonKapono said, “I thought my kids were going to quit, and honestly, I thought we had no chance.” After Clemson failed on forth down they came back but only managed a field goal with 3:14 remaining. After kicking deep, Clemson held UF to 3 and out, scored, and set for the onside kick with 1:32 left and no timeouts. Somehow I got the onside kick (I suck at onsides) and Anderson 11 yard run tied it.

In the 1st OT, both teams got TD’s, but in the 2nd OT, UF missed a FG, and Clemson converted.

I was 0-3 in 2 point conversion and missed a FG in all of this

Clint Tate (1st QB)- 9-20 for 96 yards, 3 INT, 2 rush for 13 yards
Cole Stewart (2nd QB)- 3-7 for 61 yards, 2 rush for 12 yards
Jonathan Jordan (3rd QB)- 14-34 for 193 yards, 2 TD, 5 rush for 69 yards
Sean Anderson (4th QB)- 6-8 for 67 yards, TD, 4 rush for 24 yards, TD, 4 receptions for 14 yards
Derrick McDonald (HB)- 7 rush for 39 yards
Jay Melton (HB)- 5 rush for 13 yards, TD
Elgin Pollard (WR)- 6 receptions for 81 yards, TD
Lorenzo Burley (WR)- 6 receptions for 56 yards
Tom Evans (WR)- 5 receptions for 88 yards
Tim Anderson (WR)- 3 receptions for 54 yards
Austin Foster (WR)- 3 receptions for 59 yards
Shaun Brown (FB)- 3 yard TD catch
Troy Thomas (MLB)- 8 tackles, 5 TFL
Joel Smith (MLB)- 8 tackles, 3 TFL
Clay Baldwin (OLB)- 6 tackles 3 TFL, sack
Jermaine Green (CB)- 2 tackles, INT
