Still no spot for Miami?
We'll get that fixed right away for ya
Virginia Recruits 1-4
Cavaliers sign a foursome of Trench Players to begin 2017 Class
LT Kendall Perry - physical blocker with average athleticism but great technique, good at just about everything that will be required of him.
RT Evan Jacques - More of a pass block specialist with pretty good athleticism.
FB Charles Covington - For some reason we had two FB list us #1 this year, and they happened to be the top two fullbacks. I don't need a fullback until the year after next so this was ideal - I get to redshirt him, and then have the best fullback in this class (my opinion only!) for four years. Love the incredible size, and he will improve above that 78 OVR because dynasty wire says he has 82 SPD and a solid run block rating. We see Covington topping out as a 275-lb HAMMER with 80+ strength.
TE Alan Perry - We've got him fully scouted and this is a good route runner with great hands. Not a road grader so he may not be on the field all the time. He will be a weapon that must be accounted for at all times. Needs to redshirt and get better at blocking.
Maaaaannnnnn I got a really good RB soft committed right now. Will post if I actually sign him of course...
I have been waiting for a RB recruit like this. Now my only issue is how I handle the rest of the depth chart. I might have to cut 1 or 2 other RBs so I can redshirt this guy with no hesitation.
Power? speed? BOTH? - I don't get it, why would you have to cut other HB to redshirt this one
Yea he is a 5'9 215lb MJD type.
I dont know... I am redshirting 2 freshman RBs right now and have a true freshman playing. I dont want him to transfer after a redshirt because of playing time.
I don't think that would happen. I've never seen it happen. You are starting to overthink it like Mack Brown and RGIII / Manziel at QB.... What's his OVR?
79 or 80
Lorenzo Johnston, he's a power back.
How do I update my part of the spread sheet?
give me your email address so I can give you access
there is a very legit shot that NC State does not sign anyone this season. Every single recruit i had on my board, with the exception of the crappy ones no other team wants, i have either lost out on already or am way behind in the recruiting.
dig for and recruits that have a bunch of "powerhouse" schools on their list. you will hit on a gem or two quick enough
yeah i have added a bunch new players to my list since of the original 21, i would say atleast 12-13 of them have signed elsewhere or i have no shot at so have dropped. SMH
FS Brian Thomas - This guy is one of the best FS recruits I've seen so far. He is comparable to our current FS Terrence Patterson who has been a great defender during his time at SC. Thomas is a shade better with great strength and tackling skills. He will play that center field position well in our defense.
OLB Nate Smith - Another top flight recruit that is very intriguing. Smith has CB coverage skills and could develop into a do it all linebacker. The way our defense is currently structured we have guys playing different roles (i.e. pass rushing linebackers or coverage linebackers). Smith can play all snaps with his skillset. Also he's an angry looking mofo.
OLB Jeff Golden - OLB with great speed, we were a bit disappointed that he turned out to be geared toward finesse pass rush moves and zone coverage but we can definitely find a role for him.
G Jamie Russell - Run blocking rating was lower than we would have liked but he was very interested and we have time to let him develop before he needs to hit the field.
T Marcus Edwards - Solid Tackle, once his strength is unlocked he'll probably end up at 79-80 ovr.
Tyson Gardner- Might very well be a career back-up or a one year starter. We have a lot of young talent at QB and will most likely find guy in the next couple of years that is a better fit for our system.
Jerome Jones- Jones sures up the the MLB depth for the next couple years. Still have a little tape left to watch on him but we like the skill set he brings to the table. He will have a shot at battling for playing time in a couple of seasons.
Matt Richardson- Love this guys strength. He is a little better in the passing game but after a couple years in the system he will be a great all around player. We jumped arky and a couple weeks later he signed
Nice players man. I don't know how you guys are able to identify the high OVR guys and get them so quickly. I can get players quickly, but they're usually the 77 OVR types not the 81, those take me longer to locate. Well problem #1 is none of the 81 OVR guys like my team lol. That FS look like a beast although he will take some wrong steps against an offense that knows what they're doing.
I like to keep my list short early on so I can get them scouted well before really putting time into guys. From there I either keep a guy or drop him down and look at others to get the best possible guy at that position. With FS/SS usually if they have both coverage ratings in the 70's tell you they will probably be at least 76-77 OVR. Tackle rating in the high 70's-80s will add a couple more points, then speed/strength may add another point or two to the OVR.
However as you said, sometimes it's a matter of having the guys interested in the first place. The FS had me way ahead of UGA from the beginning so didn't even really take much effort to get him. As far as his play recognition, yeah obviously I'd like it to be higher but I think he'll be fine in our scheme. Plus he's getting a redshirt so he has time to develop a bit.
NC State still hasn't signed anyone. We do have a soft commit----on a 1* FB. I stand by my fuck..you..all
It is possible our top 4 guys on the board we wont sign. In fact I just dropped one because it was a lost cause.
I hope Gyrene76 does a summary soon. I think he signed the best G in the class. I was [as close to] DEVASTATED [as you can get for a video game] not to get this player!
Yeah, I was getting my group together to post. I have avbout4 signed thus far.
