The Ultimate Protection: Trojans! 2010
I love the title. Very nice job Twist
The Trojans pull out a close victory over the Rainbow Warriors 36-19. QB Matt Barkley had a solid game, going 14/22 for 150 yards and 1 td, but the main story was the RB situation in that Allen Bradford did the hard work, going 29 for 97 yards but backups Marc Tyler went 7 for 96 yards and a td, including an 80 yarder to break the game wide open. Backup Gable also had a good run and went 7 for 55 yards and a td.
The Trojans lose a heart breaker on thier home field to Texas and their outstanding Coach Max 26-21. The Longhorns made the plays when they needed to and the big play was a pick 6 deep in the Trojan zone by LB Keenan Robinson gave a lead that would never be given up!
QB Matt Barkley had a very good game, going 13/21 for 158 yards and 2 tds and 2 ints, but made some key throws and with some help from his receivers converted some huge third downs. RB Allen Bradford went 19 for 128 and a td, including a 50 yard scamper to paydirt.
WR Rob Johnson had a great game with spectacular catches, going 5 catches for 63 yards and a td. WR Brice Butler also had 5 catches for 77 yards and 1 td.
The D played a solid game, led by MLB Chris Galippo, who had 9 tackles and 1 tfl.
Great game Coach Max and I hope to rematch it next season!!!
USC: 44 Minn: 37 OT
The Trojans just squeaked out a victory with CJ Gable rushing a few yards for the game winning TD in OT. QB Matt Barkley went 19/34 for 285 yards and 2 tds with 1 int. RB Allen Bradford had 43 rushes for 179 yards and a td and WR Ron Johnson had 5 catches for 144 and 1 td.
USC: 41 Stanford: 21
The Matt Barkley to Rob Johnson show was a sight to behold as the Trojans spanked Stanford 40-21. Barkley completed 25/39 for 452 yars and 3 TDs with no INTs. WR Rob Johnson caught 10 balls for 239 yards and 2 tds. TE Blake Ayers had 8 catches for 136 yards.
RB Allen Bradford balanced out the attck by rushing 44 times for 164 and 2 tds.
DE Nick Perry had a stellar game, totalling 10 tackles, 4 tfl and 2 sacks.
Cal: 42 USC: 31
I don't think I have ever been more ticked off after a game than this one. Losing this rivalry game with a lot of recruits at it just put a cap on a very crappy season of recruiting. QB Matt Barkley had a pretty good game but was plagued by drops and some bad breaks ala the EA Screw. He went 20/39 for 367 yards and 3 tds and no ints. His main target was WR Rob Johnson who had 8 catches for 177 and 3 tds and TE Blake Aykles who had 9 for 150.
The killer for the Trojans was a lack of running game to help control the clock. Allen Bradford rushed for 19 yards and the Cal D did the rest. Tough loss.
Season 2: 2011
Alabama: 38 USC: 14
Bama rolls in the second half over the Trojans. After losing RB Dillon Baxter in the first half, it was quickly over for the Trojans. Trent Richardson led the offense that produced 528 yards and 21 points to none for the Trojans in the second half.
USC: 24 Texas: 21
Huge win for the Trojans! Matt Barkley went 19/26 for 282 yards and 2 tds with 1 int. RB Dillon Baxter led the way with 21 carries for 135 yards and 10 catches for 83 yards whenever Coach Max was patrolling the middle of the field. WR Rob Woods had 4 catches for 128 yards and a td.
USC: 50 Stanford: 29
Barkley led the way going 16/28 for 269 yards and 3 tds. Baxter also had a big day with 17 rushes for 148 yards and 2 tds. RSFr DJ Morgan had 7 rushes for 78 yards and a td. WR Kyle Prater had 1 catch but it was for 85 yards and a td!
USC: 42 ASU: 7
Barkley had a good game going 13/25 for 191 yards and 2 tds with 1 int. Baxter went 19/150 yards and 3 tds.
MLB Chris Galippo had 5 tackles and 2 ints.
USC: 33 Oregon State: 28
The Beavers made it tough on the Trojans and tried to rip their uniforms right off!
Matt Barkley went 24/37 for 291 yards and 2 tds with 1 int. Baxter had 25 carries for 83 yards and caught 1 td.
DT Jurrell Casey had 6 tackles, 2 tfl and 1 sack.
USC: 55 WSU: 7
The Trojans whipped on the WSU squad led by QB Matt Barkley who went 16/26 for 254 and 2 tds, with 2 ints.
USC: 30 Cal: 17
Very rough rivalry game which featured Dillon Baxter dominating the Bears with 168 yards and 1 td and HB Marc Tyler also chipped in 2 td runs.
USC: 44 Washington: 20
The Matt Barkley show as he went 18/32 and 497 yards and 3 tds, with 1 int. Brice Butler caught 5 for 214 and 2 tds.
USC: 53 AZ: 40
Barkley again dominated a tough Wildcat team, going 18/34 for 410 yards and 3 tdss, but threw 2 ints. Backup BJ Charles went 13/20 for 140 yards and 1 td and int.
USC: 28 Notre Dame: 21
Coach Jugg had a fired up team march into LA and almost burned the city to the ground but Dillon Baxter put on a show in the second half to pull out a victory against Kyle Rudolph, who caught 9 catches for 125 yards and several big grabs for 1st downs.
The Irish opened up the game intercepting QB Matt Barkley and marched down the field capped off by Dayne Crist running the ball 8 yards for the score. After a Trojan punt, the Domers marched down the field and capped off the drive with a 2 yard TD run from Cierre Wood. "When I saw Cierre go for that TD I felt like I had seen it somewhere before! I think it was deja vu!:, qouted Coach Twist in the post-game PC. Down 14-0, the Trojans manned up for Dillon Baxter to run them into the EZ and drove them to the 6 where Marc Tyler finished it off for a 14-7 score before the half. With 30 seconds or so, after an INT by the Trojans, WR Rob Woods shook off a tackle and went 60 yards for the TD, ending the half at 14-14 tie.
After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Baxter ran in from 4 yards to give the Trojans the lead. Baxter added a 66 yard run after breaking through the line with 1 minute left. Coach Jugg struck swiftly and scored a td in 35 seconds to make the score 28-21. Baxter finished with 23 carrys for 191 and 2 tds.
Great game by Coach Jugg and the Irish and I look forward to playing next season!
The Trojans have made the following changes: Offense: Georgia
Defense: Multiple D
Game 1 2012 season
USC: 49 UCONN: 28
The Trojans withstood a tough task of facing the Huskies and pulled out a win without their dominant running game to lead the way. Matt Barkley led the QBs going 13/21 for 254 yards and 3 tds. Kyle Prater had 4 catches for 105 yards and TE Lamont Ford had 5 catches for 102 yards and 2 tds.
Game 3 2012 season:
USC: 45 WSU: 20
The Trojans fired back after their heartbreaking loss to Bama by destroying the Cougars 45-20. Barkley went 21/35 for 378 yards and 4 tds with 1 pick. Dillon Baxter also threw in 111 yards on 24 carries.
USC: 38 Cal: 31
The Trojans barely escaped with a win against the rival Bears. Matt Barkley went 19/36 for 357 yards and 3 tds. The running game was stymied by the tough Bears D and WR Brice Butler had a big day with 5 catches for 178 and 2 tds.
USC: 38 Stanford: 20
Matt Barkley fueled the Trojans to a big win against the Cards 38-20. Barkley went 19/37 for 336 yards and 2 tds with 1 pick. This game was one that RB Dillon Baxter got back in sync as well, rushing the ball 27 times for 127 yards and 2 tds.
USC: 34 Oregon: 31
Very tough and close game that the Trojans pulled out of the fire, able to run the ball out by RB Dillon Baxter, who had 32 carries for 137 yards. Barkley went 23/36 for 423 yards and 3 tds.
There was a huge battle for the Pac 10 title between Coach Twist's Trojans and Coach Emmdot's Huskies and the 2 teams didnt disappoint the fans. The Trojans got lucky on some key turnovers in the 4th quarter to outlast the Huskies 34-24. Here is the stat sheet:
The Trojans started out on fire and opened a 20-0 lead on the strength of RB Dillon Baxters 2 TDs and Bobby Ders 2 FGs but Coach Emmdot had the Huskies roaring back and went trailing into the half only trailing 20-10. The Huskies defense stymied the Trojans offense in the third quarter and scored 24 points to take the lead 24-20. But a huge INT by DT Jason Tate gave the ball to the Trojans in good field position and Dillon Baxter capped it off with a 2 yard td run, which ended his season due to injury. The Huskies roared back to overtake the lead again but NB Freshman Lashawn Cunningham picked off a Montana pass and took it to the house for the final 34-24 score.
Great Game Emmdot and look forward to a rematch next year!
QB Matt Barkley 11/20 167 yards
RB Dillon Baxter 28 attempts for 110 yards and 3 tds.
Season 4: 2013!
USC: 24 Georgia Tech: 6
The Trojans won against a tough GT team without the experience of Matt Barkley under helm. B. J. Charles had a solid game, going 11/17 for 172 and 2 tds with 1 int. RB Dillon Baxter had a big game, after finishing the season injured and had 18 rushed for 118 yards and a td.
CB Torrin Harris had 3 tackles and 2 ints to lead the defense.
USC: 42 Notre Dame: 35
Another great and brutal game in the rivalry that is ND-USC: Coach Twist nearly swallowed his gum as RB Mike Ryan rumbled 49 yards for a score early in the game. QB BJ Charles would strike back quickly with a 64 yard bomb to WR Larry Robbins. RB Dillon Baxter would add 2 short scoring runs to add the lead to 21-7 for the Trojans, which included a questionable fumble by Ryan. The Domers would strike quickly on a 59 yard pass to Shaq Rvans but the Trojans would answer with a 62 yard run by Baxter. The half would end on a 5 yard pass to Ryan for a TD and the score would be 28-21 USC.
The Domers would get the ball to start the second half but Ryan, while bulling forward dropped the ball, allowing the Trojans to score on a short pass to TE Grimble. Ryan would answer another TD but Charles struck with a 75 yard bomb to Craig Warren to seal the game.
BJ Charles 11/13 for 276 yards and 3 tds
Dillon Baxter 24 carries for 147 yards and 3 tds.
Andrew Hendrix 15/23 238 yards and 3 tds
Mike Ryan 18 attempts 152 yards 2 tds and 1 receiving.
Great game as always!
Great game Twist, like you said, as always. There were however a lot of questionable plays in this game as far as the realism situation goes both for and against ND. Mike Ryan and Shaq Evans broke a combined probably 12 - 15 tackles on their 2 long TD's, then the CPU punished me back with 2 lost fumbles, both by Ryan as I was jamming the cover up button, that really changed the momentum in the 1st and 2nd halves. There were also a couple of key drops by usually sure handed ND receivers and USC completed a couple of 3rd down passes where the QB was hit while throwing and the ball fluttered in the air and somehow still made it to the waiting Trojan receiver for first downs.
All in all another great game though, just wish it would have had a different outcome.
