Week 12 (cpu)
Va Tech vs NC State
Va Tech continued to play well and are looking foward to an ACC championship battle vs the winner of the Maryland/FSU game. Tech was looking for their second shutout of the season but was spoiled late in the 4th quarter. Darren Evans still has heisman hopes with a hard earned 176yds 3 TD performance.
Va Tech vs UCLA (cpu)
Virginia Tech might have answered alot of questions during their 2011 season opener vs UCLA. Virginia Tech put up 602yds total offense. Ju Ju Clayton settled any doubts if he could lead this team. Clayton threw for 358yds with 4TD'S, but his inexperianced showed throwing 3 INT's. Jarret Boykin was Clayton's favorite target hauling in 8 rec for 159yds and 2 TD's. Ryan Williams ran for 124yds and TD's and David Wilson chipped in with 83yds rushing.
The Hokies held UCLA to 270 yds and were led by DE Chris Drager who led the team with 3 sacks. CB Eddie Whitley had a INT in the red zone causing UCLA's lone turn over.
If Va Tech can cut down on the turnovers, they willbe in the National Title talks as the year goes on. The Hokies travel to Duke next week as they hope to improve as they will face 4 ranked teams in a row.
Va Tech vs. Duke
The Hokies dominated the Blue Devils outgaining Duke 584-195. Ju Ju Clayton threw for 325yds 3 TD's but still throwing pics with 2. Jarret Boykin put up heisman numbers again with 11 rec for 172yds and 1 TD. Ryan Wilson and Ryan Williams combined for 173 on the ground and back up QB Antone Exum showed off his exploviness with a 51yd option keeper TD in mop up time.
The Hokies defense put constant pressure on the Blue Devils QB with 4 sacks and several hurries and holding the passing attack to 137yds. Many of them came against the second team in the 4th quarter.
The Hokies look ready as they approach the meat of their schedule facing 4 ranked opponents, including the #1 and #2 team in the nation.
Va Tech vs Georgia Tech
Va Tech had to come from behind to win this tough ACC battle. Unable to establish a running game and playing from behind most of the game, Ju Ju Clayton paced the offense with 520yds in the air and 1 TD pass. His inconsistancy almost cost the Hokies this time as his 3 INT's led to Yellow Jacket points each time. Jarrett Boykin put up again unreal numbers (he is a 99 what do you expect) hauling in 13 rec for 297 yds 1 TD, including the big 47yd catch to set up the winning TD. Defensively the Hokies looked lost against the new GT offense giving up 205yds on the ground, 199 of it belongs to Roddy Jones (a beast) and 243yds in the air. Tech's D will need to tighten up before they take on #1 Tarheels. A much needed bye week awaits.
