WASHINGTON-- Just days after the season ended, the Redskins started to work on some roster upgrades. Usually Coach is not one to trade, but felt the need to bring in some guys that can help the team. The first of the Redskins trades was to acquire another WR threat. The Skins decided not to resign the aging Santana Moss, but wanted a guy that was bigger and still had some decent speed. And they feel they did just that with the addition of 6'4 Justin Hunter. "His catching ability downfield is out of this world," says Coach Jon. "We just think that he's an amazing talent and has the size and speed to make a difference with the guys we already have." In order to acquire Hunter, the Skins shipped out 2nd year QB - Curt Cousins. Cousins saw no time on the field as he backed up RG3. He was a sure trading piece because of certain attributes and the potential upside that he has. Captain Curt will finally get his time to shine! Welcome Justin!!! The second trade the Redskins landed was a replacement for the ageless wonder, MLB - London Fletcher. Coach knew coming in that he had 1 year with Fletcher as the man in the middle of the defense. The Redskins planned to go to the draft to acquire a MLB, but did not necessarily have the pick to get one with the Rams holding onto the Skins 1st round pick (RG3). It was then that the Colts reached out because they were looking to get rid of a MLB.... not just a player for depth purposes.. but a starter! The Redskins traded a 3rd round pick to the Colts for Pat Angerer. There's no way that the Skins would have found such a player in that round that was as seasoned as young Pat is. Pat has some great attributes, but his ability to cover intrigued Coach Dread to pull the trigger on the deal. "We love the upside of this young man and hope that he can become our new Iron Man," says Coach Jon. We would like to thank London Fletcher for his services and commitment to the Redskins organization! Welcome Pat!!!
