Cavs rookies have strong games, but go down to Cs 99-81It was Kyrie Irvings 1st game, and it showed. The Cavs got down big early with Irving going 0-6 from the field in the 1st half. Cavs were down big but didnt give in, getting the lead down to 8 with 4 minutes left in the 4th. The veteran poise of the Celtics however overcame the rookie inexperience, gaining a double digit lead to get the victory. For the Celtics, Pierce had 26 points, 6 rebounds, Allen had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and Rondo had 13 points, 6 assists, 7 steals. For the Cavs, Tristan Thompson led the way with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks, Irving had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 13 assists and 2 steals. "They will get better from this. They did not panic when the lead was getting bigger, we just need more execution, that will come with time." said Coach Scott League News- Before the game, it was announced Anderson Varejao, Anthony Parker, and Semih Erden were deactivated while waiting for the league approved trade to go through with the Nuggets
Griffin, Clips Maul GrizzliesBG Leads LA To 96-73 Win "We have to play better ball than that! We just looked lost out there, especially on the defensive end. Letting a team shoot over 50% from the field will always lead to a result like this. Its a long season so we'll get past this but its not the way we expected to start the year." -- Coach Red
Clips, Nuggets Agree On Trade
NUGGETS COME UP SHORT AGAINST THE BLAZERS, LOSE 94-86
DENVER, CO -- For the second time in a week, the Nuggets found themselves on the short end of a close game against the Blazers. However, for the first time this season, the Nuggets felt like the played a decent game. Going into the 4th quarter, the Nuggets had a 4 point lead and had all of the momentum. Unfortunately, Jamal Crawford did what he did so well last season - he closed.
Crawford would score 14 points in the 4th quarter, most of them on a solid defender in Arron Afflalo, for which the Nuggets would not have an answer. The Blazers outscored the Nuggets, 31-19 in the 4th in route to the 94-86 win. The Blazers are now 3-0 on the season.
On a positive note, after starting off the first two games with the FG% of 30, Nene finally showed up shooting 11-17 from the field while scoring 25 points and adding 7 rebs. (I have to get him the ball more....)
Here are highlights from the game -
Grizzlies Fall To 0-3 As Bobcats Run Away In FourthCharlotte Outscores Memphis By 13 To Win 88-72 Memphis, TN - The Charlotte Bobcats marched into the FedEx forum and dominated the Grizzlies in the final frame in a 16 point blowout victory. The Bobcats were led by rookie sensation Kemba Walker who finished the game with 24 points and 4 assists. Corey Maggette chipped in with 20 points and 8 rebounds. A close game throughout, the Bobcats started the 4th on a 13-0 run and the Grizzlies were never able to recover as the run was made while they were allowing their starters to rest. O.J Mayo led the Grizz with 20 points, going 4-6 from deep. The loss drops the Grizz to 0-3 on the season.
Butler leads Clippers to win 106-75The Cavs came to Staples with 3 new players, and left with a huge loss. The Cavs kept it close in the 1st half, but missed shots, rebounds, and turnovers killed the momentum for Cleveland. Clippers had a 39-30 rebounding edge and 7 less turnovers than the Cavs. "It will take a while to get adjusted with the trade. We gave Jordan the start and he played well." Caron led the Clippers with 21 points and 4 assists, Griffin with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Paul with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. For the Cavs, Irving led with 16 points, 10 assists, and 3 steals, Samuels had 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Hamilton had 11 points and 2 steals. Thristan Thompson struggled in the game, picking up 3 fouls in the first and a 4th in the beginning of the third. Cavs are looking to add a big man through either free agency or trade. There are also rumors that G Andre Miller could be bought out of his contract.
Yup, the Clips are serious. And where are the rest of the summaries at?
been busy lately, havent been able to get any games in. trying to play some tonight
I'm 0-4 vs CPU. I have one win but it was simmed. I was blown out in 3 losses. I played today and almost had a win vs the Suns but they pulled ahead in the 4th. I like playing All-star even though it is very difficult. The wins will start coming.
Kings lose thriller in Chicago
The Kings fall to 2-3 after loss to Bulls (89-83). L. Deng came up with big play after big play recording 17 points and 10 rebounds. D. Rose was his normal self scoring 28 points and dropping 5 assists. Sacramento was carried by D. Cousins 22 points and 12 boards. The Kings backcourt struggled shooting a combined 14-30. If Evans and Thornton continue to struggle it will be a long season the the state capitol.
Irving shines in win over Bobcats 84-77The first half couldnt go any better for the Cavs, they held the Bobcats to 36% shooting and had a 15 point lead. However in the 2nd half the game got a lot tighter in the 4th, with Kyrie Irving leading the team to victory. Still learning the Princton offense, Kyrie found open cutter and shooters that lead to baskets. Leading the Cavs was Irving with 16 points, 11 assists, and a steal, Thompson with 14 points, 3 rebounds, a block, Hamiliton with 13 points and 6 rebounds, and Ndiaye with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists. Ndiaye was recently signed by Cavaliers to a 2 year deal with team option for 2nd year. Leading the Bobcats was Thomas with 23 points and 6 blocks and Maggette with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Cavalier Rumors- After the game it was reported that G Ramon Sessions has not been happy with the lack of minutes he has been getting this season, especially with the Cavs trading for G Andre Miller. It is reported now that the Cavs are looking to move Session in a deal along with Caspi, who cannot crack the rotation since the DEN trade as well. "We are going to do what is best for the team. said GM Chris Grant. If a deal comes along that benefits the team, we will pull the trigger".
Wade, Heat dominate in ClevelandThe Cavs inexperience showed though tonight, losing the Heat 100-74. The Heats 45-26 rebounding margin led to 2nd shot opportunities as well as fast break opportunities. "We just flat out didnt rebound the ball. If we kept the rebounding edge close the game would have been a lot closer. said Coach Scott. Leading the Heat was Wade with 26 pts, 7rebs, 6 ast; James with 24 pts, 6rebs, 6 asts. For the Cavs, Thompson led the team with 14 pts and 6rebs, Eyenga and Harris off the bench combined for 25 points, and Irving had 9 pts, 5 asts, 2 stls. Cavs sign G Manny Harris to 2 year deal. Its all but certain now that Sessions and Caspi will be moved before trade deadline.
Kings dominate Spurs 89-59Sacramento got back on track in last nights game behind a good showing from Tyreke Evans. Evans scored 23 points while recording 6 rebounds 3 steals and 4 blocks. Three others also recorded double figure scoring in J.J. Hickson, D. Cousins, and M. Thornton. R. Jefferson led the way for the Spurs shooting 5-6 overall and 3-4 from beyond the arc. M Ginobili despite scoring 14 points, had a terrible shooting night making just 5 of his 17 shot attempts. The Spurs shot a combined 34% from the field while allowing the Kings to shoot 52%. K. Smart was quoted after the game, "While I'd like to say it was all about our defense tonight, that's simply not the case. The Spurs struggled tonight but i expect to see a much better effort once our paths cross again. This team is too good to not rebound."
Kings still winning by 30?! What did I get myself into by coming out West?! lol
anybody else having issues with the 2k servers? I've been kicked out of 2 games in the last 2 days. One i had already finished but kept the stats up so i could write a summary...
Rookies shine as Kings beat Jazz 92-71 The Kings starting backcourt began the game shooting awful, this prompted coach Smart to bring in his newly drafted rookies in I. Thomas and J. Fredette. The 2 combined to rattle of 20 points and 5 assists. Also combining to shoot a collective 6-9 from downtown. This spark sent the Kings ahead and they never looked back. After a terrible first half, T. Evans turned it around to score 23 points and also recorded 5 assists and 3 steals. Cousins also managed to hold his own against own of the best post players in the NBA in A. Jefferson, recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. If there was a weakness for the Kings it would have been on the defensive end against the Jazz's stellar froncourt. P. Millsap quietly scored 16 points and pulled down 11 boards while Jefferson scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Next up for the Kings is a much anticipated trip to L.A. to face the hated Lakers.
Kings edge Lakers, 71-66 Going into tonight's game the focus was on how the Kings frontcourt would respond to the two 7 footers from L.A. Well, the young post players for Sacramento responded with a big night as Cousins posted 20 points and 8 rebounds while Hickson dropped 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Kings post players rebounded from a terrible defensive night against the Jazz to hold Gasol and Bynum to 8-23 shooting. While T. Evans did struggle shooting he did turn in a solid performance in the assist to turnover ratio, posting 8 dimes while only committing one 1 turnover. Thornton also seemed to pull out of his multiple game funk shooting a solid percentage while also scoring 17 points. On the Lakers side, Kobe looked to be his King killing self early on recording 24 points through the first 3 quarters. But, the fourth quarter was another story as Evans was able to hold the Hall-of-Famer to only on basket.
Kings rock Bobcats, 96-65 The Kings two building blocks put on a show if only for one half. Evans poured in 22 of his 28 points in the first half while hardly seeing the floor in the second half. Cousins took advantage of the Bobcats weak frontcourt scoring 23 points himself. The surprise though, was Jason Thompson, who played his best game of the season scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Charlotte did manage to expose a weakness in the Kings defense, that held them to 44% from the field, at the SF position as Maggette was able to drop 20 points on them. The Kings take on another up and coming team in the T-Wolves in their next match-up.
sorry guys I haven't been active on this. I'll start posting scores once the PSN is back up.
Alonzo Gee and Cavs 4th quarter shooting leads to win over Pacers 78-70.This game for the Cavs was very ugly. They had as many assists as turnovers, 19-19, and struggled to find an consistent offensive rhythm in the 1st half. That changed in the 2nd half thanks to G Alonzo Gee and the Cavs 3 point shooting in the 4th quarter. Cavs went 5-8 from 3 point range in the 4th quarter after the Pacers switched to a zone. "We saw it coming with Kyrie,Alonzo, and Hamilton getting into the paint. Our team stayed patient and moved the ball to find the open 3 point shooter. Alonzo Gee finished the game with 26 points on 12-13 shooting and had 3 blocks, Irving had 13 points, 15 assists/5 turnovers, 4 steals, Hamilton had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks. For the Pacers, Hibbert had 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, George with 16 points, Granger with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists.
what a game from Gee
Kings make statement vs Mavs, 101-86 D. Cousins led the Kings to a victory over the defending champs with a 35 point 9 rebound effort against the Mav's. Dirk also came up with a big night himself matching Cousins with 35 points of his own. T. Evans also posted 22 points 8 boards and 4 dimes.
