Tide tames Tigers LSU 20 Alabama 41 After great game after great game in this series it was due for something less than were used to. The first quarter was filled with stalled drives that left LSU with 1 FG and Alabama with 2 FG's. The first big break happened in the second quarter when LSU LB B. Shaw dropped back in coverage and followed the QB Aaron McCarron Eyes as he stared down a crossing route. Shaw patiently waited and read the pass picked it off and had nothing but green grass in front of him. TD LSU giving them the lead 10-6. Alabama would not let LSU hold the lead for long hitting a big pass on the next drive and using HB Trent Richardson to work his way in for the score.13-10 Bama. LSU punted and Alabama was able to strike again. Hitting a 42 yard pass to WR Kendall Kelly and then using Richardson to pick up the last 20 yards for the score 20-10 Bama. With under 2 minutes to go in the 1st half LSU was pressing to cut the lead. QB Shepard rolled out of the pocket to his right and thought he found an open man. His pass was gobbled up by SS Jaret King, King was in perfect position to intercept the pass and able to return for a TD. 27-10 Bama at the half. The second half saw the teams make 4 punts in a row before McCarron was picked off by Shaw, his second of the game. Badly needing to convert this into a touchdown LSU was only able to get a FG. 27-13. On Alabama's following drive the LSU defense forced Alabama into a 3rd and long. McCarron tried to hit Kelly up the sideline but was picked off by CB T. Schmidt. LSU needed to score a TD and looked to be headed that way. Within striking distance Shepard tried to dial up a corner route that was picked off by SR. Dre Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick ended the day with 2 picks he picked up one late in the game aswell. After the pick the game was pretty much over the teams would add a couple more scores to move the final to 41-20. GG Ryno....headed back to LSU next year.
