Tide to much for Clemson in 2nd Half Tuscaloosa.... Alabama new it was going to be tough going into tonights matchup against #4 Clemson and for a half it was. Clemson took an early lead and intercepted Alabama's first play of the game and looked to control the game early. But Bama's D kept the Tigers running game in check and forced them to pass early and often. Despite the turnover on the 1st series Alabama had a chance to pull ahead by two scores late in the 1st half but like much of the 1st half Clemson's D frustrated Alabama. On the Tiger 28 4th and one Clemson stuffed Alabama and had a chance to turn the game back in their favor. Clemson failed to get it going and the first half ended 10-7. In the first half the teams danced around but in the 2nd half Alabama landed some punches. After being stopped on the 1st drive of the half Bama caught a break and intercepted the ball and ended up with good field positon. Bama would score to lead 17-7. Clemson would answer with a good play call and better run after catch to HB McDowll for a 57 yard TD. 17-14. The Bama Defense would cause trouble again late in the 3rd quarter when CB Dre Kirkpatrick picked off a McNeal pass and ran it back for a TD. On the following dirve Kirkpatrick would rip the ball loose from a Tiger receiver. On the next play from scrimmage the Clemson secondary was caught out of position and WR Kendall Kelly caught a 30 yard TD pass. In a span of 25 seconds Alabama had added 14 points to their lead with the score 31-14. With one quarter to go the Tide put the ball in HB Trent Richardsons hands to close out the game. Richardson broke tackles and pushed the pile on some impressive runs. Both teams added 2 scores in the 4th. Final 45-29. Clemson was pressured all game and was sacked 6 times to Alabama's 1. The Tigers were only able to gain 9 yards total on the ground. GG Coleman.
