AP:This just released from the AD at Louisiana State University. Les Miles has stepped down as head coach of the Tigers and will be replaced by relatively unknown Coach Matt York. Coach York will be taking over a team that is currently ranked 5th in the preseason poll and is stocked full of talent. "It is quite an honor to take over such a storied program. I look forward to competing for SEC and National championships. This years team has A LOT of speed and size. We are ready to compete I just have to put the right people in the right place." We shall see Tiger fans more to come as the season gets closer.

The #5 LSU Tigers hosted the very pass happy Mustangs of SMU tonight. In front of 100,000 plus screaming fans the Bayou Bengals beat the Ponys 38-17. Coming into the game LSU knew it was in for a tough Defensive Matchup but to give up 468 yards mostly through the air had a few people shaking their heads. The one thing this team prided itself on was Defense and despite giving up those yards only surrendered 17 points and caused 4 turnovers in the game. The Offense which coming into the game was thought to be a liability actually out gained the Mustangs with 584 total yards of offense. Lead by SR's RB Charles Scott who had 155 yards on the ground on 23 carries with 1 TD and RB/WR Trindon Holliday who had 2 carries for 52 yards,1 catch for 50 yards and 2 scores this offense really clicked. The Tigers did turn the ball over 4 times and this frustrated Coach York to no end. "We have to make better reads on Offense not just at the QB position but also by the Oline. We did a lot of things well but we also need to spend a lot of time in the film room." Next up for the Tigers a home game with Vanderbilt.

The Commodores came to Death Valley with upset on their mind. The weather was in on it as it was raining cats and dogs, too bad LSU didn't cooperate. LSU escapes with a 24-17 win behind a strong running game. SR RB AA Charles Scott had 101 yards on 23 carries and 2 TD's. When he went down with back spasms in the 3rd qtr in came SR RB Trindon Holliday who scored the winning TD on a 50 yard scamper to open the 4th qtr. He also chipped in with 6 catches for 64 yards. On Defense the Tigers were led by JR SS Chad Jones who recorded 12 tackles and had 2 big deflections one in the end zone on a 4th and 3 that ended the 2nd qtr. Next week the Tigers travel to Nebraska.

LSU Lays the Smack Down On MSU

LSU traveled to Starks Mississippi today and put a smack down on the Bulldogs of Mississippi State 40-10. Its not all good news however SO QB Jordan Jefferson seemed to be clicking under center as he was 10-12 for 94 yards and a TD through the 1st QTR when he was hit while throwing the ball and came up lame. He will be out for three weeks with back spasms. His replacement was true FR Russell Shepard who came in and promptly threw 2 INT's as he started 1-6 as the team went to Half Time. "The coaches in the booth came down and sat down with Russell and showed him a couple of schemes MSU was running against him trying to confuse him. He came out to start the second half driving the team down the field and putting points on the board building up his confidence. The boy who came in with 7 min left in the 2nd Qtr left as a man." said coach York after the game. Shepard ended the game 9-13 for 185 yards and two TD's. Charles Scott lead the team on the ground with 136 yards. On D SS Chad Jones had 15 tackles and 1 sack. The D forced 5 turnovers during the game.
