    Tiger Tales

The LSU Tigers' special teams and defense set the tone of this game early. The opening kickoff was returned for a TD. The defense returned 2 interceptions for TDs, in the 1st QTR. The score was LSU 28 FLA 0 at the end of one.
The second QTR didn't see much change as LSU continued their dominance and saw the Gators out of sync in all areas. The score was 42-0 at the half.
The second half was not very exciting as LSU stepped off the gas and Florida still could not get it together. The Gators' only score was set up of an INT thrown by LSU's 3rd string QB who was in the game for the experience. That was also LSU's only turnover while taking the ball away a total of 4 times.
307 yards of offense was all it took because the D only allowed 148 to Florida.

With a two week layoff the Tiger Offense came out the gates a looking pretty good. Luckily, Vanderbilt was the first game back for them after the hiatus. A quick first possesion touchdown put LSU up 7-0. All was quite until midway in the 2nd quarter when both teams were able to put up some points. The halftime score was LSU 21 Vandy-3.
The 3rd quarter saw LSU light it up with 21 points. The LSU coach pulled most of the starters the 4th quarter and were held to 7pts while allowing 14. Final score-LSU 49 Vanderbilt 17.
    Standouts:
    QB Harrel 14-17 279yds 4TDs
    WR Mitchel 5 rec 123yds 2TDs
    WR Davis 4 rec 97 yds 2TDs
    Defense: 3ints 2TDs

Although the game wasn't as well played as LSU was hoping they were still able to pull out the victory. The first drive of the game was marched down the field by the Tigers for a TD. Tulane tied it up at the beginning of the 2nd qtr. LSU score two times in the
2nd making the halftime score 21-7 LSU. LSU scored early in the 3rd qtr and got a FG in the 4th for their only scoring in the 2nd half. Tulane was able to put up a meaningless touchdown late.
Final score: LSU 31 Tulane 14
    Standouts:
    QB Harrell 8-15 201yds 3TDs
    RB Carey 230yds 1TD
    WR Mitchell 5 rec 174yds 2TDs

    LSU-Alabama

In this huge rivalry game it was decided before hand that neither team would start their first string defense. That was clearly visible as each team took their opening drives in for touchdowns. Alabama got the early lead 7-0. LSU answered immediatley. LSU recovered a fumble on the next Alabama drive and marched down the field for a score on that drive. A quick 3 and out gave LSU the ball and they used the oppurtunity to go up 21-7 with just under a minute in the first quarter. Both teams scored 10pts in the second to make it 31-17 LSU at the half.
LSU scored quickly in the 3rd qtr but Alabama scored on their next two drives making it 38-31 going into the fourth. Alabama scored a TD on their 3rd drive in a row to tie the game at 38 with just under 4 minutes to play. On LSU's second play Carey broke out on a 68yd TD run that would prove to be the deciding score as LSU's defense was able to hold Bama scoreless the rest of the game.
    Standouts:
    QB Harrell 12-25 205yds 3TDs
    RB Carey 234yds 3TDs
    WR Mitchell 5rec 140yds 1TD

    LSU/Ole Miss

This thrilling 3OT game was not what LSU had on their minds before the game started. Defense ruled the first QTR with noone scoring. LSU hung 14 quick ones on the Rebels in the 2nd. Ole Miss, scored with 2 seconds left in the qtr making it 14-7 at the half.
Ole Miss made two FGs in the 3rd and LSU scored one TD. LSU 21 Ole Miss 13 In the fourth Ole Miss came out with a vengeance. Two TDs and a 2pt conv in a two minute span gave the Rebels the lead with just a 1:07 left in the game. LSU's Harrel found his favorite target Mitchell for a 47yd bomb TD with 26 ticks left. Ole Miss was unable to do anything with their time remaining.
    End of Regulation: 28-28
Each team scored a TD on both of their first two possessions. After the first two overtimes no PATs are allowed. Score- 42-42
Ole Miss was held to just 11yds in the 3rd OT and were forced to kick a FG.
LSU took over knowing all they needed was a TD to get out of this game. LSU was set up inside the ten when Harrel was sacked at the 12. On 3rd and 12 he found his TE Wilson streaking across the middle. The catch was made about the 3 and he stumbled his way into the endzone after being tripped up by the MLB. The play was reviewed and the call on the field was confirmed. TD LSU!!!
    Final score:
    LSU 48
    Miss 45
    Standouts:
    QB Harrell 20-33 358yds 4TDs
    RB Carey 108yds 3TDs
    TE Wilson 7-98yds 2TDs
    WR Mitchell 6-172 1TD
