I thought that I write something to help people who are struggling with TW14's Sim style gameplay. I'm not trying to brag or anything, there's actually bunch of players in connected tournaments who beat me regularly but I can compete with them... Those who already are shooting under par regularly can stop reading now... The Diagonal Swing This is the most frustrating and at same time the most rewarding aspect of the game. You just have to learn to do this with your controller. In my opinion the best way to practise this is to take practise swings, lots of them. I actually start my "day" on the course by taking like 20 practise swings in a row, I just need to find my "5-11" o'clock swing and feel the "corners" of my controller's left analog stick. It's not easy, try different ways how you hold the controller in your hands to find your style. Don't worry about swingspeed, in my experience the followtrough is always slow with diagonal swing. I've tried all shaft types and flicking the LS up as quickly as I can but I just can't do it. But despite the fact that the swing analyzer says "slow" the speed should always be almost perfect. What I mean is that blue bar in upper portion of the swing analyzer is just a hair short of perfect, and that's good enough and also should be easily done. Also worth trying is to add more fade or draw into your strokes. I sometimes find it easier to hit my fade's when I add more sidespin to my shots. The "5-11" swing changes a little towards "4-10" o'clock swing which is good since at least in my controller there is like a "channel" for straight south-north swing and by adding more fade my swingpath moves away from this straight "channel". Putting The control method when putting for this year's version of the game is actually pretty easy. It is important to note that your golfer has already adapted to green speed when you are aiming the putt. When you put your aiming marker to 30 feet distance on perfectly flat slow green you will hit that distance with perfect/perfect stroke. Same thing happens when you are putting a similar putt on tournament green, the perfect/perfect stroke again sends your ball the distance you aimed for. Because of this the difference between fast and slow greens is actually in speed of the ball. Same kind of putt on tournament green propably travels with half of the speed than a putt on slow green. What this means is that when there's break in a putt the amount of break is lot bigger on tournament green compared to similar break on slow green. Ball's velocity is lower and gravity pulls the ball down and therefore slower ball reacts to breaks lot more than a faster ball... Same thing naturally when comparing up- and downslope putts. When putting without grid I only use the "crouch" view to get an idea what kind of line i'm dealing with. I check the Ball above/below feet angle and try to look the general break from that blurry view but where I'm actually reading the green is the default Address camera view. I just hit the "A" button and look at the green from there, green is not blurry at all from there and I can actually see the line for my putt surprisingly well from that view... I don't really have anything else on my mind right now. What i'm trying to practise right now is the draw shot. My CAG is power/fade/high and I feel that if there's strong wind from left to right I'm in trouble with my fade and I really should hit draw shots towards the wind... Feel free to post more tips here. I'm really not an expert in this game, I just can hit the diagonal swing with pretty good success rate and I putt pretty well...
