To this point in the season, and even continuing from the previous two, the Titans have been in a free fall. Starting the season 0-3 and with their division rival Indianapolis coming to town, the Titans knew it was now or never. Tennessee opened the ball game with a nice drive. Facing a 3rd and long deep in their own territory, QB Kirk Cousins hooked up with Kendall Wright on a beautiful one handed catch by Wright. He then made a couple defenders miss and raced up the sideline for a huge gain. A few plays later RB Chris Johnson would find pay dirt and put the Titans up 7-0. On Indy's first possession things would not go as planned for their offense. After a couple plays Andrew Luck would make an uncharacteristic INT when SS Vinny Bass stepped in front of his pass. The Titans would march down to the Indy 43 yard line before being stopped. In a desperation move to try and do anything to save their season, P Brett Kern would fake the punt unsuccessfully as he missed his intended receiver. Starting out with great field position, Andrew Luck would not waste any time. He drove his team down for the game tying TD 7-7, as he rushed in from about 10 yards out. Chris Johnson would add another score before half time and at the break it was 14-7 Titans. (Both teams missed a FG in this first half. The Colts attempted a 55+ yarder at the end of the half but came up just short). The second half was played very well by both defenses. Neither offense would do much of all. Andrew Luck was able to scamper in once again from inside 10 yards. We would be all knotted up at 17 at the end of 4 quarters, and to overtime we went! Winning the coin toss, the Indianapolis Colts would receive the ball. Fearing the run and Bernard Pierce, the Titans chose to come out playing the run. Andrew Luck had other things in mind though. He quickly came out and tried to establish the passing game. After a few successful plays, however; he would make another critical INT, his 3rd on the day, as FS Michael Griffin picked him off. Starting off at midfield, the Titans were able to get the ball into field goal range for Randy Bullock. Bullock would make his 35 yard field and the Tennessee Titans would pull off the early season upset and win this crucial match up 20-17!
