Nashiville-- A divisional game to start the season is always tough because if you lose you are one game down in your division and it is an uphill battle for the rest of the season. Titans came into this nationally televised game trying to get off on the right foot against a tough division rival the Texans. Not sure if it was the nerves of playing in the national spotlight but the Titans preceded to fumble the ball deep in their own end that set up the Texans for a short drive to take an early lead but a fumble by Arian Foster gave the ball right back which allowed the Titans to reset field position against the Houston. This did not rattle Houston in the least when they capped off a nice drive with a TD run by Dominique Bryson to go up 7-0. Tenessee struggled all game to get a non-existent running game going and were continually stuff by the stout defensive front of the Texans who continually hammered Chris Johnson whether he was going inside or outside. This definitely ended up being a coming out part for 3rd year QB Andrew Carvel as he carried the load of the offense like a true elite QB making great decisions and throws while being constantly harrassed by the Texans was able to eventually tie up the score at 7 capped off by a Chris Johnson run to tie the game at 7-7. Houston would not be fazed the whole game by anything the Titans were doing in this game. One of the arguably best TE's and route runners in the game Owen Daniels was an unstoppable beast the whole game ran the most perfect route against zone coverage caught a great throw and took it to the house to retake the lead 14-7. This would be a continuing them the whole game as Daniels ended up having 5 rec for 168yds 1TD for the game. Again the Titans were able to answer the call when Kenny Britt ran a nice out and caught the TD to even the score at 14-14 late in the 2nd qtr. Once again Owen Daniels led a drive that ended up with a TD catch by WR Melvin Moultry to take the lead going into the half 21-14. The 2nd half for Tennessee was all about trying to get stops and get back in the game. The Texans received the ball in the 2nd half and the Titans were able to finally force a punt which set up a drive for Tennessee that looked promising as the Titans moved to midfield until a great user pick by Brian Cushing on a HB wheel route was intercepted to stop a drive to tie the game. Both teams would go back and forth for most of the 2nd half with the Texans unable to deliver the knockout blow until late in the 4th qtr with 1:55 left in the 4th qtr on the Titans 33yd line a fortuitous holding call brought the ball back to about the 45 yd. Once again Houston was able to grind back into FG range to put the game away but on 3rd down Arian Foster fumbles the ball which was recovered by Kamerion Wimbley. The Titans did not disappoint by putting together an unbelievable drive that culminated in a Kenny Britt 30yd TD catch to tie that game at 21-21 a piece with 50 seconds to go. Coach HoodIII though for sure he was going to be able to force overtime and have a shot to win the game there. Houston had other ideas as poor tackling and the Beast Daniels moved the Texan close to mid field. Matt Schaub who had played a brilliant game up to this point made his biggest mistake of the game when he forced a ball to Andre Johnson who finished the game with 2 rec for 21yds that was picked off by Jason McCourty who tip toed down the sideline barely missing tackles along the way to knock him out of bounds to take it to the house for a 28-21 lead with about 20 seconds left in the game. Tennessee would seal the game on the Texans next possesion with an Alterruan Verner interception. GG Dave. I have never won a game like this was exciting on my end at least. See you in Texas.
