Rua def. Jackson via TKO (punches) at 4:25 of round 1.
Shogun dropped Rampage early with a knee from the clinch. Shogun took mount when it hit the ground but Rampage rolled to his back and eventually made it back to his feet. They traded more punches until Rampage got dropped from a counter left hook. Shogun took his back and went for the rear-naked choke. He got close to finishing it but Rampage escaped and ended up in Shogun's guard on top. He attempted a kimura submission from the top but he could not sink it in and Shogun swept him to end up on top. He postured up and landed some ground and pound with Rampage against the cage. After a few shots, referee Herb Dean stepped in to save Jackson from any more punishment. Many fans in the arena felt it was an early stoppage, as did Rampage.

Updated, we are still waiting on Bons Jones/Anderson Silva to finish this bracket off.

    Shogun awaits his championship opponent.
