McLouth powers Braves past Rays; Crushes 2 HRs.

Nate McLouth wanted in on the action. On the first at-bat of the game, he deposited a low-inside fastball over the right field fence, and the Braves never looked back. Mclouth also added a 3-run HR in his 2nd AB of the game to give the Braves an early 4-0 lead. Jason Heyward also joined in on the festivities, and hit a deep HR into the left-center stands to put the Braves up 5-0.

Tommy Hanson had control issues for most of the game. His curveball wasn't working well at all, so he had to resort to his fastball which got him in a little bit of trouble. Eric O'Flaherty gave up the remaining 3 runs as the Braves won the game 7-5.

Billy Wagner picked up his second save on the season.

Notes: Brain McCann leads the league in doubles with 4.

Braves slug their way to Victory; McCann stays red hot!

Kris Medlen took the mound today, filling in for Tim Hudson who didn't have a good warmup. His arm felt a little tired so Manager Scikotic bypassed his start in the 4 man rotation to give him an extra days rest. Medlen was solid with a 7 inning outing, allowing a lone run on a HR to Orioles Centerfielder Adam Jones.

Brian McCann continues to hit the ball well, going 3 for 5 with a HR and a 2B. He added 3 RBIs and continues to lead the league in doubles with five. Melky Cabrera (2) and Troy Glaus (3) also added HRs to their total.

If the Braves offense continues to hit this well, they are going to be extremely difficult down the stretch. Tim Hudson is set to take the mound for the next game against ???????.

    Braves Rout Sox 13-4

Brian McCann couldnt have had a better day, going 5-5, 1 HR, 3 RBIs and propelling a Braves offense that put up 13 runs and 19 hits. Troy Glaus added his 8th HR on the season and Yunel Escobar hit his 1st HR of the year. The Red sonx definitely were able to hit the Braves pitching, but they stranded too many runners and had trouble plating the runs.

Starter Kris Medlen got off to a shaky start allowing 5 hits the first 2 innings, but he managed to get away with only allowing 1 run through 6 innings. He appreared to cool down as the game when on, but in the 7th RP Luis Valdez gave up a 3 run HR to Victor Martinez on a Moonshot to deep RF.

Braves now move to 14-2, and 2.5 game lead on the 2nd place LA Dodgers(emmdotfrisk).
