The Browns and Redskins have agreed to a trade that will utilize both of the available trades for each team for the 2018 season.

    Browns Send:

    QB - Johnny Manziel - Age: 25 - 97 OVR - $9.76M Penalty
    WR - Arron Preston - Age: 27 - 75 OVR - $0 Penalty
    DE - Larry Webster - Age: 26 - 74 OVR - $30k Penalty

    Total Penalty: $9.79M

    Redskins Send:

    QB - Robert Griffin III - Age: 28 - 79 OVR - $3M Penalty
    WR - Jerald Holland - Age: 23 - 89 OVR - $580k Penalty
    DE - Jerry Hughes - Age: 30 - 90 OVR - $1.5M Penalty

    Total Penalty: $5.08M

Reasoning: The Browns have been down this road before with Manziel in contract negotiations and a 2nd (or even 3rd) year in a row of franchise tagging him didn't seem to be an option. In essence the Browns felt they were forced to choose between their defense (Sherman & Haden) or offense (Manziel) here. Adding Hughes give the Browns the one piece they felt they were missing in their defense (a standout rusher opposite Sheard). In RGIII, the Browns feel like they are getting a franchise type QB who never quite lived up to his potential, and they are hoping they can help him come closer to achieving it. Holland gives them another budding superstar receiver, lining up opposite Justice, for their new QB to throw to.

The Redskins have been pondering the idea of moving on from RG3 for the last couple of seasons and adding one of the best QBs in the league was too big an opportunity to pass up.

The Browns respectfully agree to this trade. We thank Johnny for all he did for our organization and wish him well in D.C.

Thanks Carl, pleasure to do business with you sir! Enjoy JFF!

Skins agree...Its been apparent that RG3 wasnt the solution and the organization wanted to make a move. Holland and 1st round overall pick Jones were to be the next Julio and Roddy. The opportunity to pick up one of the best QB's in the Q trumped the playmaking duo. Hughes has been solid and consistent but we have young guys that can use the PT and try to make their own legacy and progress. Jones will now be the #1 target along side 1st round pick TE Miller, so hopefully he can develop into the Megatron 2.0 that he was thought to be when the organization drafted him. Thanks for the trade and GL in the rest of the release.

Ok....for those that don't "get it"....we have used TWO trades to make this deal happen. It COULD HAVE been broken up into two separate trades, but as a way to save time, we combined it. Clearly some feel this was a big deal. So here it is....

    Trade 1:

    Johnny Manziel
    for
    Jerry Hughes and Jerald Holland

    Trade 2:

    Arron Preston and Larry Webster
    for
    Robert Griffin III

I hope this clarifies things for EVERYONE.
